Based on Comicbookresources' sneak peek we should definitely see Professor X join the war between the Avengers and the X-Men in AvX.
It's pretty interesting to note that we last saw Professor X in the pages of Wolverine and the X-Men where he was seen giving his blessings to Wolverine who was opening the new school.
Based on the images on this page drawn by Olivier Coipel it would seem that Charles Xavier will be joining the battle. It's also safe to assume that joining Xavier would be his son former evil mutant Legion. Also its also nice to know that its Magneto that waits for Xavier as he reaches the shores of Utopia.
