I plan to put it up either monthly or weekly depending on my budget, just know that this won't be the last. So anyway this week's focus is the first real "mecha" that was recently demonstrated in Japan, the million dollar mech known as "Kuratas".
Unlike other "mechs" that have been produced in the past say decade, this is the first real robot that was built with a cockpit. Meaning it can accomodate a pilot who could probably gun down folks like they were just fish in a barrell.
Speaking of guns, the Kuratas definitely packs a punch. Based on the initial reviews and write ups for the launching, the mech can fire as much as 6,000 bullets per minute. The gun that has been mounted on the mech is of course a gatling gun, given the number of the bullets plus your distance and accuracy of the pilot, I'd say you're pretty much pooped when you encounter this in the battlefield or in hostile urban territory.
So before we completely stray away from the topic the other thing that makes Kuratas such an interesting development in terms of weaponry and technology is the smartphone control capability. Dubbed as the "master-slave system" this lets you "play" with Kuratas without having to be inside it. In a battle scenario this is definitely a good thing that they created this sort of thing to minimize the loss of a soldier's life.
The bad thing is, when Kuratas falls to the wrong hand, you're looking at a machine that can easily rob banks remotely or can give chase to loaded armored cars or much worse back up a terrorist assault. :(
Here's the overall stats for this badboy:
PRICE: 900,000 pounds
CREATOR: Suidobashi Heavy Industry
HEIGHT: 13 Feet
WEIGHT: 4 Tons
COLORS: 16 Colors available including Black
FUN FACTOR: Smile trigger. Yes, you heard it right, all you have to do is smile and you spray bullets or shoot out missiles on your locked on target.
