Big Moments and Spoilers from Spider-Men # 4

Here are some of the best moments from this week's SPIDER-MEN # 4 by Brian Michael Bendis and Sarah Pichelli.

Spider-Men # 3 ended with Peter Parker making an appearance in the front lawn of May Parker much to the shock of Aunt May and Gwen Stacy. This issue is more talk and less action but every moment from the book was pretty damn good.

Ultimate Tony Stark Looks like Robert Downey Jr.

So Sarah Pichelli decides to draw Tony Stark as a dead ringer for actor Robert Downey Jr. who happens to be talking to a Nick Fury that was patterened after Samuel L. Jackson. Very cool.

Acknowledgement of other worlds

I would have flipped tables if Bendis wrote somewhere in this book that they have never encountered other dimensions. That would be a big farce especially since it was the Ultimate U that created the Marvel Zombies. The Ultimates and the Ultimate X-Men also fought the Squadron Supreme which also left Fury stranded in their universe for some time.

Gwen Stacy Reacts to 616 MJ being a Supermodel

That's a very classic moment right there and then. I'm also empathizing on Peter for feeling a bit happy knowing that in an alternate universe, Gwen is alive and kicking and that she's unsullied or spoiled by the likes of Norman Osborn.

Plus its also classic to see Gwen's reaction on finding out that MJ Watson in the 616 Universe as being a supermodel.

That Awkward Moment between Peter Parker and Ultimate Gwen Stacy

The Day Nick Fury learned that he was White

yeah, nuff said.

With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility

Other comments:

Sarah Pichelli's art for the book is pretty impressive. My only problem here in Spider-Men # 4 was the fact that it suffers from inconsistencies. There's one panel where we see Peter being drawn as having a normal jaw and chin and the a few pages later we see him drawn with a completely different face.

It's these types of books that lets Brian Michael Bendis's writing shine. I'm really on the fence with him being the new writer for the All New X-Men but when he writes something like this book, it reminds people that he is definitely worthy of being Marvel's premiere writer.

Spider-Men # 4 is out now. I got mine from Comicx Hub.

  1. I love how expressive Sarah Picheli's artwor is. Merely looking at the eyes give you an idea what a character feels. That's really a great thing.

Also, I love the part where 616 Peter got to hug Ultimate Gwen. I admit I almost cried when I reached that part :)
