The new cover features central Avengers figures such as Captain America, Thor and Iron Man all badly beaten and Cyclops displaying the classic Phoenix raptor display.
The cover on top was the one with a tease and below is the newly completed cover featuring Cyclops as the new Phoenix...
I wonder what Nova has to do with all this chaos? Also gazing at this variant cover made me realize that artist Jerome Opena would have been a good artist for the first act of Avengers vs X-Men... But it's good that he didn't because he wouldn't have been given the chance to do the relaunched "Avengers" with Jonathan Hickman for Marvel NOW!
