A rather lackluster cover by Bryan Hitch |
So if you haven't been following the goings on in Action Comics, you'll have to understand that Krypto's been hanging out in the Phantom Zone for a few years now after saving the life of Jor El and his family.
Anyway in Action Comics # 13 by Grant Morrison and Travel Foreman, Superman is attacked by the Phantom King who in reality is a doctor who developed a hatred for the El's after being sent to the Phantom Zone by Jor El himself.
The Phantom King sends Superman to the Phantom Zone while he plots to destroy Earth from the Fortress of Solitude. Inside the Phantom Zone, Superman encounters all the criminals that have been sent there as well as Krypto!
As it seems, Krypto is actually saving the 'life' of a mysterious stranger in the phantom zone. Turns out the stranger is actually Phantom Stranger already making his appearance. There's a great deal of mystery about how he actually ended up in this place.
Anyway there's a battle that goes on and before the issue ends, Clark swaps places with the mysterious villain once more. Before the door to the Phantom Zone closes forever Clark manages to pull out his trusty dog out of the zone.
The cutest moment here was when Superman rushes to space to expose his pet to the yellow sun which will power up its Kryptonian cells.
Welcome back Krypto!
Also is it just me or does the new Krypto share a strong resemblance with Young Justice's Wolf...
