Batman Inc. # 8 - Yes another Dead Robin

Spoilers for Batman Inc. # 8 by Grant Morrison and Chris Burnham and yes you read it right, the rumors and advance spoilers are true, Bruce Wayne's son Damian Wayne who also happens to be the new Robin died.

More details after the cut.

In this issue Damian just goes all out trying to save everybody and anybody he can. He even managed to team up with Dick Grayson and confirm that they were the best Batman and Robin team back when Dick was parading around Gotham as the new Batman.

Then there was the big bad villain that these two had to face. The villain? Well he may or may not be Damian's clone twin brother. At this point though I'm not so sure, partly because I haven't been reading Batman Incorporated since around issue number 4.

Anyway, in this story, Damian Wayne shows where he takes after when he tries to neutralize the threat of his mother's organization "Leviathan". Dick and Damian try to beat Damian's clone but to no avail. In fact Nightwing gets trashed pretty bad leaving Damian to fend for himself.

In the final moments of Batman Inc. #  8 we see that Bruce Wayne's influence has totally rubbed on Damian despite the young Robin being brash and arrogant. In one multi-panele page we get to see Robin in his glorious, shining moment.

Batman Incorporated (2012-) 008-018

The kid's been shot at and even back-broken but he still makes sure that he's going down with guns ablazing. Oh and yes, he's also experienced getting a backbreaker. It's worth noting twice.

Batman Incorporated (2012-) 008-019

Leave it to Grant Morrison to make a grand finale for his long running Leviathan story. If you'll note Batman, you'll see that he's fighting a Man-Bat ninja. What's not clear is how Batman managed to go from here outside, in the rooftop...

... to here...

Batman Incorporated (2012-) 008-020

Damn. That's one heroic way of dying. Like I said, this is a far superior death of a Robin as opposed to how Jason Todd went out in "Death in the Family". Oh and then there's also that poignant moment where Talia Al Ghul is seen crying for the death of her 'son' whom she's already discarded like rubbish. Damn you you cold, hard bitch!!!

And if you think this isn't real, go and check the covers for Batman # 18 and the rest the Bat-books.
