Spoiler Heavy Discussion on Thor: The Dark World

The new trailer for Thor: The Dark World from Marvel Studios has been released and I'm looking to discuss the different scenes from the movie.

Be ready though as I'm going to relate the actual scenes from the trailer to the spoilery stuff that's already been released/ published/ shared months and weeks before today. If you don't want that maybe you can check out my recap/ highlight for Game of Thrones S3E3 instead. Highlight and screencaps after the cut.

Still there? Good.

1. Asgardian Invasion

In the first movie, we see the Asgardians as this almost immortal group of people who live in a different universe where science and magic co-exist. One of the biggest points that was pointed out in Kenneth Branagh's Thor was that you simply do not mess with Asgardians unless you want the All-Father to suddenly materialize out of nowhere or have his thunder god son do deathly damage. In 'The Dark World' that element is inverted as we're seeing a vulnerable Asgard, yet its an Asgard that's in ruins thanks to the Dark Elves.

2. Miss Jelly Sif

It was pretty obvious that Sif isn't too pleased that Thor brought Jane Foster to Asgard. The first movie never did show the two interacting but the sequel allows for moments such as this. And more unbridled fury for Sif as well (who is kicking ass in the Marvel Comic 'Journey Into Mystery')

3. Unholy Alliance

So the spoiler that I read rings true, it would seem that Loki, Thor and Jane are forming a trio that'll journey into the world of the Dark Elves. They'll also be responsible with training this new army that they'll bring to fight Malekith the Accursed

4. Shed Some Light on Loki

We haven't seen Loki played by Tom Hiddleston since Marvel's The Avengers and thanks to the trailer, we finally see what's happened to the Asgardian god of mischief. It's also nice to note that there are similarities between Loki's cell in Avengers and his cell for Thor 2.

5.  British Invasion

Nothing really spoilery about this one but it does give us new insight as to why Marvel Studios proceeded to shoot in Great Britain. Oh and it's also because the scenery in the Dark Elves world plus the architecture are very similar to the medieval castles and forts in the English countryside.

6. Rene Russo Brandishing a Knife

This scene according to the rumors buzzing around is an important scene not just because it shows how fierce Thor's mother can be but also because it's around this time when SPOILER ALERT Frigga is killed. Apparently she's one of the more important victims of the attack on Asgard. This might also be the reason why Hemsworth's Thor looks glum in this scene...

7. Exorcism of Jane Foster

Another spoilery rumor that might have been proven by the new Thor trailer is the plot about Malekith using Jane as a means for the Elves attack on Asgard. Apparently she gets posses and goes batshit crazy prompting the entry of the Elves. The scene on top might just be the moment Thor and company exorcise Malekith's influence on her post-attack.

8. Ms. Foster is Injured

Marvel's Kevin Feige was once quoted as saying Jane will have a bigger role in the sequel as opposed to just being the eye candy she was in Thor. It looks like her being held hostage in the final moments of the trailer shows that she really does play a bigger part. Heck she might be injured in the final battle causing Thor to go viking on poor Malekith.

Overall, this second outing for Thor looks bad-ass. One last thing, that moment when Thor smashes the ground and does the 'whole' bwelo thing reminded me of 300 with the red cape and all that.

Thor: The Dark World is locally distributed by Walt Disney Studios Philippines and is hitting theaters November 8, 2013.
