Uncanny X-Men # 6 Review [Spoiler Heavy]

In hell, nobody will hear you scream. In the case of Uncanny X-Men #6 it's the rest of Cyclops' new team together with their mystically powered team-up Magik.

So to start, the book is written by Bendis together with artist Frazer Irving (who I last saw pre-New 52 Batman and Robin).

The book's start was just right where we left them from Uncanny X-Men # 5 where the entire team gets sent to Limbo after the dirty dealings between Dormammu and Magik. This issue is slow on the action uptake but represents a pretty solid character development ish.

It's here we find out that the Stepford Cuckoos can now turn to diamond much like their 'mother' Emma Frost. It's a nice change of pace for the Cuckoos who've shied away from the limelight ever since the end of AvX. Another crowning moment of glory for the Stepfords are the way they creatively use their powers. Team can't concentrate or freaking out due to the ambiance, tweak their emotions so they go bat-shit angry.

It's also nice to know that the 'broken' status of Cyclops' optic blast has an upside, which is that he can now hurt mystical beings. Obviously that's not the case before but it certainly is now.

Bendis is such a master when it comes to creative shots in the arm such as when we first get a glimpse of a new addition to Magneto's arsenal...

Then there's the reveal about the newest Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. who'll definitely complicate matters for Scott Summers and the rest of the mutants...

... and her name is Dazzler.

Irving's art for this issue as well as the last one was insane! It's perfect for the arc with all the strange colors and the erratic changes in the lines and facial expressions. It's like those psychedelic visions you get when you're hungry. Although that's also one of the drawbacks, the wonkiness but its very minimal.

VERDICT: 8.5/10
