Zoe Saldana Cast as Gamora for Guardians of the Galaxy

Looks like the deal has been sealed as Star Trek star Zoe Saldana has been officially added to the cast of Marvel Studios' Guardians of the Galaxy. She'll be joining Chris Platt and Dave Bautista (Batista).

Saldana will be taking on the role of Thanos' adopted daughter Gamora, also called the "Most Dangerous Woman in the Galaxy". She's well versed in fighting hand to hand and with bladed weapons. Of course, her favorite would be her sword.

She was an active part of the various cosmic teams in the Marvel Universe including Infinity Watch (with Pip the Troll). The last iteration of Guardians of the Galaxy also saw her doing some galactic good together with Starlord, Peter Quill, Drax the Destroyer, Rocket Raccoon, Groot, Mantis, Cosmo, Adam Warlock, Quasar (Phyla Vell) later Martyr and Moondragon. 

During the cosmic event Annihilation, Gamora also briefly dated Richard Rider aka Nova. If you want to see her in the current comics, you might want to pick up Nova by Jeph Loeb and Ed McGuiness as well as GoTG with Brian Michael Bendis and Steve McNiven. 

I'm very curious as to how she'll interact with the rest of the team and her co-stars but one thing's for certain, Ms. Saldana is no stranger to long makeup sessions; after all she played Neytiri in James Cameron's Avatar opposite Sam Worthington. Oh and yes, I hear that this is going to be makeup heavy for both her and Batista which is something to look forward to.
