Peter Parker Officially Returns with Amazing Spider-Man # 1 Teaser

Otto Octavius will soon bid adieu from Peter Parker's body as Marvel has begun showing off new materials for AMAZING SPIDER-MAN # 1

And yes, just like every fan expected, Marvel is bringing back the real Peter Parker in 2014 in line with the release of Marc Webb's Amazing Spider-Man 2. The new book will retain it's creative team so again it's with Dan Slott and Humberto Ramos

Cannot wait for this book to drop and au revoir Superior Spider-Man

SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN # 17 Spoilers

It's a match we've all been waiting for SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN (Otto Octavius) squares off against SPIDER-MAN 2099 in Superior Spider-Man # 17 by Dan Slott and Ryan Stegman.

So what basically happens is that Miguel O'Hara (Spider-Man 2099) saves the day in Alchemax airspace after some topsy turvy time displacement occurs.

He traces the source of all the trouble from inside the Alchemax tower where his 'father' Tyler Stone is slowly vanishing from the timestream. Once Miguel's 'dad' disappears so does he.

In the present, Peter Parker is playing with the rest of the Horizon Labs for the annual Softball match. Max Modell is arrested for a dozen or so crimes he's apparently linked to including harboring fugitives like Morbius and the Lizard. We also get to meet the new major stockholders for Horizon. A familiar face in Spider-Man lore... Harry Osborn's former wife Liz Allen.

Oh and remember when I said "Tiberius Stone was insignificant"? Well I was so wrong... The guy weaseled his way into getting Modell's job AND is revealed to be Miguel O' Hara's grandfather.

So Slotto decides to give Stone a piece of his mind and follows them as the Superior Spider-Man. Back in the lab, the gang tries to use Grady's time machine to go back in time and get sufficient evidence to prove that Stone was behind some of the biggest disasters for the company. While operating the time machine, this occurs:

Back in the outside world, Spider-Man catches up with the AlChem(ax) team and is about to lay down the hurt to Stone when the future Spider-Man bursts into the scene.

Somethings I noticed. Normie knows something is wrong with Spider-Man...

Maybe the first piece of Peter's return will start when the Osborn's make their appearance on SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN. Anyway here's to hoping that there's some good pay off at the end of this arc as opposed to simply doing fanservice.

SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN # 17 is out now.

A Better Look at SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN V2

A quick look at the redesign on SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN by artist extraordinaire Humberto Ramos.

Let's play fashion police for this new costume shall we?

FOOTWEAR

The ninja shoes from the previous/ original design is gone (remember the toe spike? gone). I never really saw the sense for that design. Sure it was practical, but come on, this guy has the power to stick to walls. That would be like adding a trunk to a normal elephant. These new footwear I fancy because it's built with travelling in mind. Remember Spider-Man's adventures can lead him from the rooftops of New York to sewers or even the Savage Land.

COLORS

The suit's color is black. I think that's a good progression (at least for the Dr. Octopus/ Superior Spider-Man iteration). Aesthetically, this makes Spidey a more menacing looking hero. Somebody not to be trifled with. It also means that the webcrawler has a more darker and grim outlook, something that wouldn't be noticed by his teammates in the Avengers until the very last moment.

WEBSHOOTERS

I don't know about you but the redesigned costume featuring the webshooters outside of the costume is a good thing. I was a sucker for the Ben Reilly Spidey costume and that featured the webshooters outside the suit. It's pretty biased I know but I just like the design. Also I noticed that the webshooter itself has changed looking more like a small vambrace plus it looks to me like it carries twice the amount of web fluid as Parker's version of the webshooter.

Overall, I'm all good with the redesign for the Superior Spider-Man. What confounds me is how similar it is to the design for Miles Morales' Ultimate Spider-Man costume.

I also couldn't help but notice that this heavily borrows some design elements from that failed Alex Ross Spider-Man project.

Regardless, I'm fine with this one and can't wait to see Spidey/Doc Ock go to war against his rogues in this new suit. What do you think? Answer the poll below and lets discuss as well

Superior Spider-Man # 9 Spoilers

The pirates have struck early again as Superior Spider-Man # 9 has been released earlier than expected. Here are the spoilers for what seems to be the rematch between Dr. Octopus aka Superior Spider-Man and Peter Parker aka Amazing Spider-Man.

In this issue, Otto Octavius finally found out that there's a sliver of Parker's memory still living inside this hijacked body of his. He finally goes out of his way to finally confront what he considers as a nuisance. Inside Parker's brain no less.

Peter Parker calls out his first ace as he goes and calls in some reinforcements including dead guys and gals like Gwen Stacy and her father Captain George Stacy. Oh and more importantly, Uncle Ben also joined in the fight.

Several panels later, Otto calls in his own backup...

A massacre occurs and when all seems lost, Parker remembers one last thing, that he also happens to be the Amazing Spider-Man.

Not to be outdone, Otto also transform into the Superior Spider-Man and they 'dance' one last time.

The issue ends badly for Parker as he once again gets usurped from his own body. Now I'm truly wondering how they'll be able to dig their way out of this fiasco in time for Amazing Spider-Man 2 which is well underway.

I have two words for Octavius after this issue. YOU BASTARD!

This issue is definitely worth getting. In fact I'm already ordering my copy for tomorrow.

Superior Spider-Man Set for Collision Course with Spider-Man 2099

It's finally happened, Miguel O'Hara aka Spider-Man 2099 is set to meet Otto Octavius aka Superior Spider-Man in an upcoming story arc for the ongoing Superior Spider-Man.

Art by Olivier Coipel

During an interview with Comicbookresources, Dan Slott reveals that this meeting of two spiders will be entitled "Necessary Evil". The story sees Miguel O'Hara doing a Kyle Reese (from Terminator) going back to the past to change the future. Obviously Slott and his art partner for the art Ryan Stegman is keeping quiet with all the major plot points but they are stating that the seeds for Miguel O'Hara's trip to the past has been sown as early as the Amazing Spider-Man arc "Big Time".

In fact Slott admits that he made a mistake by writing something that shouldn't be written in Big Time, which of course, gets edited out and replaced with the release of the tradepaperback. The writer also reveals that this is going to be important as it once again reshapes the Spider-Man legacy and the entire Marvel Universe. One last thing, there's a certain Osborn that'll be returning to the fold.

The New Retro Look for Superior Spider-Man in Issue # 14

Here's the cover for Superior Spider-Man # 14 featuring a slightly modified costume and what seems to be brand new allies.

While things look bad with his recent fight with the Avengers, things are indeed looking up for Otto Octavius. Here's what the solicits read:

This July, the chart topping creative team behind Amazing Spider-Man #700, Dan Slott & Humberto Ramos, go straight to the steps of Shadowland in Superior Spider-Man #14! This all-new story arc, launching during Superior Spider-Month, gives fans a whole new look into the world of Superior Spider-Man, great for lapsed and new readers alike!

Continuing his personal quest to show the world why he is truly the superior Spider-Man, Otto Octavius looks to add cleaning up the City of New York to his list of accomplishments! But what’s his plan of attack? Eliminate Shadowland. All of it. With the Kingpin and Hobgoblin running crime throughout the city for far too long and nobody daring enough to take them down, the Superior Spider-Man takes matters into his own hands!

Superior Spider-Man # 7 Spoilers

It's the beginning of A vs. SM or Avengers versus Spider-Man in Superior Spider-Man # 7 by Dan Slott and Humberto Ramos.

SupSpiderMan_7_TheGroup-000

I swear this issue was so short, I could tell you the main gist in three sentence.

"Cardiac and Spider-Man fight after the former steals something from somewhere. Spider-Man tries to cook up something to find Cardiac but is called in by the Avengers. Avengers and Spidey talk a bit but because of his arrogance, things get worse."

Now for the spoilers,

A Very Brutal Spider-Man in Superior Spider-Man # 8 Spoilers

We know that it was only a matter of time before the so-called Superior Spider-Man aka Otto Octavius snaps and as early as issue # 6 we're already seeing some hints of this. Spoilers up for Superior Spider-Man # 6 by Dan Slott with Humberto Ramos this time.

SuperiorSpiderMan_6_TheGroup-000

The long and short of it is that J. Jonah Jameson calls in Spider-Man to knock some sense into the Jester and Screwball after the public prank they pulled on the NYC mayor. Octavius activates his spider drones to track down the two pranksters while dealing with the very real possibility of getting his doctoral degree over lunch with a professor. When the drones find Screwball and Jester, Parker/ Octavius layeth the smackdown on them not knowing that its being streamed on the Internet for everyone to see including Mary Jane Watson, the Avengers and many more.

SuperiorSpiderMan_6_TheGroup-019

SuperiorSpiderMan_6_TheGroup-020

Also I like how Humberto Ramos drew Spidey here. It makes him look more like a ninja rather than a superhero. It also reminds me of that costume that Tobey Maguire wore in the first Spider-Man movie when he was in a cage match with Macho Man Randy Savage.

SuperiorSpiderMan_6_TheGroup-021

Aaaand scene. Looks like this would be reason why Superior Spider-Man # 7 was teased with the words 'FIRED'.

Wait one last thing, this issue provided one of the most unsettling scenes in Superior. Spider-Man punching a woman in the boob.

Superior Spider-Man # 5 Spoiler and Review - Did He or Did He Not Kill Somebody?

I'm still not past the point that I'm willing to fully admit that I'm having a damn good time with Superior Spider-Man. However I can definitely say that I'm getting there. Superior Spider-Man # 5 is pushing me to go and rave about the book so here's what I think.

So the burning question since last week was whether or not this 'superior' Spider-Man has the balls to go and do the unthinkable.

Read more after the cut...

In this issue, Massacre returns to civilization from his imprisonment. He also offers his so-called services to a fastfood chain mogul and proceeds to do what he was paid to do. Meanwhile Spider-Man cajoles Uatu Jackson of Horizon to upgrade his tech. Otto Octavius foils Massacre's 'backup plan' before facing off against this stone cold killer.

SuperiorSpiderMan_5_TheGroup-010

Massacre on the other hand is having a helluva good time gunning down cops like they were grunts in a Halo game.

SuperiorSpiderMan_5_TheGroup-012

SuperiorSpiderMan_5_TheGroup-014

That's until Otto Octavius finally arrives and deals with this new rogue of his...

SuperiorSpiderMan_5_TheGroup-016

It's fairly shocking that Spidey decides to pick up a gun, let alone shoot Massacre. It's like a throwback to the 90s, the so-called 'Dark Age of Comics'. It's also the succeeding pages where Dan Slott's writing really shines the brightest.

SuperiorSpiderMan_5_TheGroup-017

Ever had this situation where you're processing a lot of things because you're about to do something very drastic and you know that there are mighty repercussions. Slott's managed to get that feeling, that thought process people have when they're about to do something terrible or completely out of character, and put it into paper.

SuperiorSpiderMan_5_TheGroup-018

Plus Spider-Man's monologue here is something that Batman should really read when it comes to dealing with the Joker. Bats even admits that he's only counting on his archenemy escaping Arkham after his arrest but he never really considered killing him. Also could the old man be Mephisto? Just checking.

Another great thing is that sad little dialogue Massacre says about feeling fear. Something that he hasn't felt after quite some time. This only gets answered by a bullet somewhere in his skull.

SuperiorSpiderMan_5_TheGroup-019

Again to hammer the point and to answer the title question, YES Spider-Man did shoot a man. A man who's down and injured.

Let's do a second look at that panel to hammer the point.

Okay fine, this book is fun! Gonna get more of these when it comes out.

Will Superior Spider-Man End Come May?

The burning question at the moment is whether or not Marvel is bringing down the blade for Superior Spider-Man as the May solicit details some pretty grim stuff.

Here are the official solicits as listed in the Marvel's preview catalog:

Superior Spider-Man # 2 Spoiler - Are they Back Together

The biggest thing in Superior Spider-Man # 2 wasn't about the return of the old villain the Vulture but it's actually more of how this hybrid of Peter Parker and Otto Octavius reacted to a potential getting back with Mary Jane Watson.

SPOILERS AHEAD.
