Major Spoiler for Superior Spider-Man # 25

While the Carlie Cooper post wasn't much other than show you what's become of Peter Parker's ex, this post will give you an inkling of how Parker finally gets his body back.

Turns out the Venom symbiote mixed with SpOck is a volatile combination which is partly the reason why The Avengers are battling their teammate. In the thick of the battle Doc Ock spazzes out and thinks that he might not have thought his plan through, all the while trying to fight the symbiote who wants to devour Parker's body and take over for good.

Just when things start to go wrong, Peter Parker's force ghost makes an appearance (last we saw him was back in issue # 9 where Otto thought he had completely erased traces of Peter Parker from his psyche.)

Superior Spider-Man 25 Spoilers
It's got this near Dragonball Z vibe where Son Gokou's ghost appears out of nowhere and helps his friends

Superior Spider-Man 25 Spoilers

And boom! We have Peter Parker back (in one form or another)...

Superior Spider-Man 25 Spoilers

Before Doc Ock even notices, Pete slips back into the subconsciousness while SpOck claims innocence over his actions by telling that he's been a host of a sliver of symbiote for months now.

Superior Spider-Man # 23 Spoiler

Quick spoilers for Superior Spider-Man # 23 by Dan Slott, Christos Gage. Humberto Ramos, Vic Olazaba, Ed Delgado and more.

Before the big ending, let's zip through the various developments in this book, which I'm starting to read once again, mostly because they should be planting the seeds for Parker's return pretty soon and I want to see Slotto's downfall. Last issue ended with Slotto successfully taking down Venom/ Flash Thompson.

This issue, he escapes!

Superior Spider-Man 023-003

Carlie Cooper has been kidnapped by the Green Goblin and his Goblin crew including Menace and Hobgoblin.

Superior Spider-Man 023-007

But that's just before Mary Jane Watson and Captain Watanabe (secretly The Wraith) receive critical information, a warning actually from the missing Carlie.

J. Jonah Jameson on the otherhand is working hand in hand with Alchemax together with Tiberius Stone AND Miguel O'Hara (aka Spider-Man 2099).

After a heated debate between Aunt May and Parker, the latter informs Flash Thompson who reached out to Peter that he can give him artificial legs. In the process of adding in the legs, Spider-Man separates the symbiote from Thompson.

SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN # 16 Review

Thoughts for SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN # 16 by Dan Slott and Humberto Ramos.

"Run, Goblin, Run!" Part 2 of 2 How has the Hobgoblin evaded the Superior Spider-Man for so long? And does that hold the key to the Superior Spider-Man's greatest success -- or greatest failure? It's the end of the line for Hobgoblin, and possibly an end for a big chapter in the history of Spider-Man."

In this issue, it's all about the fall of Hobgoblin, Phil Urich and what comes after seems to prove the theory that there will be another Spider-Man-centric event in the near future. Anyway this issue is packed with talk and it's really the meat of the story which is good. It's supposed to be good. The only problem here is that the issue lost what got me liking it. Those WOW and INSANE moments are absent in this issue which for means a lot.

On the upside you're reading something that's focusing on two bad guys on opposite ends of the spectrum. Here's Slotto on one side, a villain masquerading as a hero and using more-than-dubious methods to ensure that people will like the Superior Spider-Man AND at the same time forwarding his goal (whatever the hell that is).  On the other end there's Phil Urich aka Hobgoblin who's motivations are just as shady and who's barely scraping by much like how the real Parker did before he started with Horizon Labs. Two weirdos clashing over pride and duty. Interesting but not THAT interesting.

Again the issue follows the classic "The Cover Lies" trope. Nuff said

The real thrill for me here in this issue happens in the form of the fallout, the reactions of the supporting cast and the start of the investigation on just who is this SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN. Seriously, that's what got me more here. Carlie Cooper (Peter's ex) teams up with the Wraith here and starts going for the Spider; Nora Roberts and Ben Urich of the Daily Bugle are in the outs and without spoiling the end, there's something brewing underneath.

VERDICT: B-

SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN # 15 Thoughts

Some thoughts on this week's SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN # 15. Warning might contain spoilers.

I think I like this issue. There were somethings that IMHO was unnecessary or contrived but it's otherwise astounding. Long have I seen Superior as a book detailing the downfall of Spider-Man and the subsequent rise of Parker and with the recent issues I'm reading, can't help but chuckle knowing that I was partly right.

The issue revolves not so much on Slotto but more on Phil Urich who also happens to be Hobgoblin. We find out that (a) He's broke (b) he gets money from selling videos of himself and Spider-Man fighting (c) He's on Slotto's hit list for the mere fact that he survived the fall of Shadowland.

Superior Spider-Man 15

This is kind of a miss for me because Slott had a chance to tell us a really great story of Hobgoblin after the many changes in his life and instead everything's crammed tightly. Can't blame him though, this book is on a really tight schedule lately. Plus the fact that nobody really cares about Urich, the one-time "Good" Green Goblin.

Superior Spider-Man 15

To some extent this cover lied. Slotto never revealed those eight legged things on his back. We do find out who's been working on Hobbie's gear in this issue and that's something that falls under the category of 'meh'. Who cares whats happened to him. Although I need to track back to learn if this guy was also partly responsible for the Horizon Lab accident that created Alpha (blergh).

Superior Spider-Man 15

The issue's ending was pretty nifty. It's a mix between showing how low Otto Octavius has sunk ever since he inhabited the body of Peter Parker and it's also partly showing us the change in status quo for Urich who I can see will become a more permanent part of Spider-Man if he ever pulls through. The Spider-Man's murderous intent is also coming into a more public light which definitely will have bigger ramifications in the future.

SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN # 14 Review

"The further of Otto Octavius in Peter Parker's body" # 14 goes BIG as the SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN debuts his new costume plus other neat tricks to root out The Kingpin and the Hobgoblin in Shadowland.

Honestly I picked out the issue for this week's review mainly because I was curious on the origin of the new costume. Usually when Peter was still doing the driving, there was a sense of drama behind the change in costume. Slott recognizes that which was why we got 'nice' new costumes which made sense (i.e. the new Spider Armor for Menace, the Stealth/ Tron costume to fight Hobgoblin and so on and so forth).

The issue did not deliver on that account. There. I might have saved you some dough.

However, it did bring about a long forgotten plot point (if you can call it as such) in Octavius' return to Shadowland. Once the home of a demon-possessed Daredevil and current residence of Wilson Fisk and his artificial ninjas. Left ever since Andy Diggle's departure from Daredevil, this has been overlooked.

Now Spider-Man brings change to that status quo with the debut of the new Spider jaegers bots as well as Ock's Spider-men/ army/troops with the sole purpose of toppling down Shadowland for good and making himself and J. Jonah Jameson look good to the public.

The script isn't weak but I don't find it strong enough either. Overkill is a word I would describe in this issue. He already had mechs, why bring along an army? Was he out to prove that he was the stronger man? Was he out to show that he had bigger balls? We honestly don't know because it was never tackled. Could be an oversight on the writer's part or it could be a mistake we'll just have to find out in the next few issues.

I do like what is slowly happening here. Doc Ock is slowly spreading himself thin, he's doing a lot of things in Peter's body and that might come back as a problem or as a plotpoint. The whole thing about the costume change for a more nefarious hero is slowly shaping up to become the Marvel version of the Batman story arc "Knighquest: The Crusade". Though he might be able to cover his tracks neatly, he's going to eventually show his true colors and setup the return for Peter Parker.

Going back, SS # 14 sets up some pretty interesting things for the next few issues or so. The ending although not of the cliffhanging kind teases a rematch that's been brewing for some time now (ever since the end of Amazing Spider-Man's comic run to be exact). Whether we get a better issue from the arc we just have to sit tight and wait.

Verdict: 8/10

A Better Look at SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN V2

A quick look at the redesign on SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN by artist extraordinaire Humberto Ramos.

Let's play fashion police for this new costume shall we?

FOOTWEAR

The ninja shoes from the previous/ original design is gone (remember the toe spike? gone). I never really saw the sense for that design. Sure it was practical, but come on, this guy has the power to stick to walls. That would be like adding a trunk to a normal elephant. These new footwear I fancy because it's built with travelling in mind. Remember Spider-Man's adventures can lead him from the rooftops of New York to sewers or even the Savage Land.

COLORS

The suit's color is black. I think that's a good progression (at least for the Dr. Octopus/ Superior Spider-Man iteration). Aesthetically, this makes Spidey a more menacing looking hero. Somebody not to be trifled with. It also means that the webcrawler has a more darker and grim outlook, something that wouldn't be noticed by his teammates in the Avengers until the very last moment.

WEBSHOOTERS

I don't know about you but the redesigned costume featuring the webshooters outside of the costume is a good thing. I was a sucker for the Ben Reilly Spidey costume and that featured the webshooters outside the suit. It's pretty biased I know but I just like the design. Also I noticed that the webshooter itself has changed looking more like a small vambrace plus it looks to me like it carries twice the amount of web fluid as Parker's version of the webshooter.

Overall, I'm all good with the redesign for the Superior Spider-Man. What confounds me is how similar it is to the design for Miles Morales' Ultimate Spider-Man costume.

I also couldn't help but notice that this heavily borrows some design elements from that failed Alex Ross Spider-Man project.

Regardless, I'm fine with this one and can't wait to see Spidey/Doc Ock go to war against his rogues in this new suit. What do you think? Answer the poll below and lets discuss as well

The New Retro Look for Superior Spider-Man in Issue # 14

Here's the cover for Superior Spider-Man # 14 featuring a slightly modified costume and what seems to be brand new allies.

While things look bad with his recent fight with the Avengers, things are indeed looking up for Otto Octavius. Here's what the solicits read:

This July, the chart topping creative team behind Amazing Spider-Man #700, Dan Slott & Humberto Ramos, go straight to the steps of Shadowland in Superior Spider-Man #14! This all-new story arc, launching during Superior Spider-Month, gives fans a whole new look into the world of Superior Spider-Man, great for lapsed and new readers alike!

Continuing his personal quest to show the world why he is truly the superior Spider-Man, Otto Octavius looks to add cleaning up the City of New York to his list of accomplishments! But what’s his plan of attack? Eliminate Shadowland. All of it. With the Kingpin and Hobgoblin running crime throughout the city for far too long and nobody daring enough to take them down, the Superior Spider-Man takes matters into his own hands!

Superior Spider-Man # 7 Spoilers

It's the beginning of A vs. SM or Avengers versus Spider-Man in Superior Spider-Man # 7 by Dan Slott and Humberto Ramos.

SupSpiderMan_7_TheGroup-000

I swear this issue was so short, I could tell you the main gist in three sentence.

"Cardiac and Spider-Man fight after the former steals something from somewhere. Spider-Man tries to cook up something to find Cardiac but is called in by the Avengers. Avengers and Spidey talk a bit but because of his arrogance, things get worse."

Now for the spoilers,

A Very Brutal Spider-Man in Superior Spider-Man # 8 Spoilers

We know that it was only a matter of time before the so-called Superior Spider-Man aka Otto Octavius snaps and as early as issue # 6 we're already seeing some hints of this. Spoilers up for Superior Spider-Man # 6 by Dan Slott with Humberto Ramos this time.

SuperiorSpiderMan_6_TheGroup-000

The long and short of it is that J. Jonah Jameson calls in Spider-Man to knock some sense into the Jester and Screwball after the public prank they pulled on the NYC mayor. Octavius activates his spider drones to track down the two pranksters while dealing with the very real possibility of getting his doctoral degree over lunch with a professor. When the drones find Screwball and Jester, Parker/ Octavius layeth the smackdown on them not knowing that its being streamed on the Internet for everyone to see including Mary Jane Watson, the Avengers and many more.

SuperiorSpiderMan_6_TheGroup-019

SuperiorSpiderMan_6_TheGroup-020

Also I like how Humberto Ramos drew Spidey here. It makes him look more like a ninja rather than a superhero. It also reminds me of that costume that Tobey Maguire wore in the first Spider-Man movie when he was in a cage match with Macho Man Randy Savage.

SuperiorSpiderMan_6_TheGroup-021

Aaaand scene. Looks like this would be reason why Superior Spider-Man # 7 was teased with the words 'FIRED'.

Wait one last thing, this issue provided one of the most unsettling scenes in Superior. Spider-Man punching a woman in the boob.
