Chew - Of Nazi Gingreadmen and Trippy Art

John Layman and Rob Guillory's Chew has always been one of the comic books that I was really interested in but was never really able to catch up with.

I knew that the lead character Tony Chu is a Cibopath (you'll find out later) which led to the apt title of the book.

But the art by Guillory together with the story and imagery for the special issue that was released by IDW Publishing would probably be the biggest reason why I'm getting this book and try to catch up on the current storyline.

What's even better was the imagery that was used in this book. I particularly laughed hard when I saw Tony Chu getting beaten by a group of mean looking gingerbreadmen, one of which has a "Swastika" mark on its forehead...

In this particular case, Tony needs to ingest a new designer drug...

Also found the cyborg partner to be a cool addition to a rather exceptional cast of characters. So anyway upon ingesting the drug, he experiences a different kind of high.

Wait, did I see Elmer in one of the panels? Oh and there's a zombie version of Cyborg John plus what looks like Scott Pilgrim.

Yup, so this is what a cibopath is. It's a kind of psychic that gets impressions through the food they eat. Doesn't come in handy especially if you get yourself assigned to the CSI team.

Really funky art. And yes, there's our thug life, neo nazi ginger bread men.

This looks like fun. Gonna really look for the first issue and hopefully I catch up.
