Spoilers for Justice League # 5

The still unofficially formed Justice League in Justice League # 5 features a few shocks and a lot of great moments for the New 52 comic book written by Geoff Johns and art by Jim Lee.

Oh and you will not believe what Batman does in this particular issue.

Anyway, last issue, Darkseid makes his New 52 debut and in just a single page managed to decimate these budding team of meta-humans with the only exception being The Flash. This issue continues with Barry realizing that he's waaay out of his league against this silent behemoth.

Around this time Superman wakes up just as Darkseid blasts his famed "Omega Effect". Luckily for Superman, The Flash was quick enough to get him out of the ray's trajectory.

The two heroes split up but while Barry is successful in evading the rays, Clark isn't so lucky as he gets zapped...

The invading parademons then proceed to kidnap the Kryptonian and brings him back to wherever the hell they bring their captives to. Meanwhile the remaining members of the League try to fight back, with Hal Jordan aka Green Lantern leading the charge.

Unfortunately for Hal, Darkseid breaks his arm....

And while being critically injured battling Darkseid plus getting thrashed and thrown around a couple of times, Hal manages to "bring it" even creating a brace construct to tend to his injuries. He was about to continue with the punishment he gets but he gets stopped dead on his tracks by Batman (which was really out of character for the Dark Knight).

Batman encourages Hal and normal stuff and then we get a pretty big shocker - Batman removes his cowl and reveals to a very pissed off Green Lantern that he is none other than millionaire playboy Bruce Wayne.

The biggest LOL moment in the book came in the same page wherein Hal asks "Who the hell is Bruce Wayne?"

Applause should be given to both Johns and Lee for this issue.

The de-cowled Batman tells Jordan to go and rally the troops while he devises a plan to get back Superman.

So we skip a lot of good character moments and we get to see a bit of humor and some grandstanding between each member before GL gets them going and act as a delaying tactic while waiting for Wayne to get back Superman.

Meanwhile, Batman gets to wherever the Parademons bring their victims and finds out that there are multiple portals in Earth leading to Apokolips itself.

Verdict - Regardless if this gets bad reviews or good reviews, I'm still picking up this book during my weekly visit to my LCS because its got another kickass art done by Lee himself. Nuff said.
