Green Lantern # 24 Spoilers

A couple of Major spoilers from this week's Green Lantern # 24 written by Robert Venditti with art by Billy Tan.

First off LIGHTS OUT officially begins and it's the first encounter between Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps against the ginormous Relic.

In true Galactus fashion, Relic releases his 'energy ticks' that proceeds to suck every Green energy in Oa.

Which sucks out the power from all the rings in Oa as well as the power batteries in Oa's vault...



... and when everything was consumed, Relic's ticks went straight for the Central Battery



The drain results in the explosion of the power battery...

Which doesn't seem so bad until Salaak reveals that the central battery was connected to Oa's core. An explosion like this will cause a chain reaction to the core...



That's how you officially start LIGHTS OUT in GREEN LANTERN.

Green Lantern # 21 Review

Reviewing Green Lantern # 21 written by Robert Venditti with art by Billy Tan

The latest issue of Green Lantern takes all that's good and awesome about Geoff Johns and plays with it without damaging anything important. Props to Venditti for staying with the established continuity for the book i.e. Hal and the Green Lantern Corp is trying to pick up the pieces after the wanton destruction that happened in 'Wrath of the First Lantern'. At the same time some minor changes are being established here and there such as Salaak resigning from his post; Kilowog taking Salaak's position and more.

Green Lantern # 19 Spoilers

There's a big 'kill off' here in this issue of Green Lantern which is not getting press time. Oh and there's also lots of deaths in this issue and a return to old school for another character. Let's all thank Geoff Johns, Ardian Syaf and Syzmon Kudranski from DC Comics. 

As always, spoiler alert.

Sinestro managed to escape from his dark prison and the first thing he does is reach out to Korugar, him homeworld. There he hooks up with his former partner, Arsona, who aids the baddie in preparing for battle against the first Lantern, Volthoom. Sadly, Volthoom beats Sinestro to the punch by appearing before him...

Johns does his classic retcon here by revealing that this Arsona was actually more than just a partner for Sinestro. She was actually his first love but then he met Abin Sur's sister Arin and they got married, jilting Arsona. 

(There's something about Ardian Syaf's art that reminds me of the classic works of Andy Kubert and Adam Kubert. I also like colors that's been done on this issue.)

In the battle that occurs between Sinestro and Volthoom, we witness first hand how powerful the First Lantern is, he's strong enough to destroy Korugar with just a thought. 

You'll kinda feel sad for Sinestro for whats happened but it's kinda his fault as well (okay not really). It's still a pretty sad thing to see your girlfriend, whom moments ago hooked up again with you, suddenly turn to ash in front of you. While it's cheap death, it's still a death that will move Sinestro character once more. He's become kinda boring as a Green Lantern anyway. 

Hopefully he can now relate to what John Stewart went through when he witnessed the destruction of Xanshi. Maybe they can even be friends. 

Back in Black Lantern world Tomar and Hal look on as the dead pour into their realm. Tomar realizes who the dead are and states the obvious.

This makes Hal Jordan go through with his decision of 'killing' himself in the world of the dead. 

Towards the end, Hal Jordan is seen lying in a pool of his own blood at the bottom of the cliff while Sinestro floats unconscious in space...

This page I totally dig. There's just so much win here. There's the contrast in the art styles for Hal Jordan and Sinestro and then there's also the color pallette used. Heck even the captions for Sinestro is dynamic in the sense that we can see the subtle shift from Green to Yellow, which is a foreshadowing to what happens next...

Where in the world did that Sinestro Corp Yellow lantern come from? Don't you think it's convenient that it just turned up like that.

Hal Jordan Encounters Larfleeze in Green Lantern: The Animated Series

Larfleeze, the Orange Lantern debuts in DC's Green Lantern: The Animated Series in a new episode entitled "Love is a Battlefield".

NEW GUARDIANS # 13 - WHAT KYLE RAYNER WOULD LOOK LIKE IF HER WERE A RED LANTERN

New Guardians # 13 provides us this month with a cool look at Kyle Rayner if he ever decides to ditch the Green Lantern Corps for Atrocitus' Red Lanterns.

The story goes: Carol Ferris enlists the aid of Red Lanterns leader Atrocitus to bring out the spark of rage that Kyle needs in order to beat the Guardians and rescue Hal Jordan and Sinestro. Atrocitus brings Kyle to a Middle Eastern country where innocent people are about to be slaughtered. One man killed by a soldier brings rage frothing back up into Kyle's heart and he transformers quickly...

DC Collectibles to Release Green Lantern Baz

DC Collectibles (formerly DC Direct) has announced that they will be releasing a new action figure of the newest GL - Simon Baz.

No release date but it's definitely worth the wait...

Green Lantern # 12 - What are the Guardian's Plans for the GLC

The Guardians are slowly revealing their hand in this preview for Green Lantern # 12 which comes out this week. It's written by Geoff Johns with art by Renato Guedes.

Is DC Screwing Around with The Green Lantern Franchise?

Is it just me or is DC Comics screwing most if not all that is hallowed in their Green Lantern franchise/brand?

Methinks that the shit hit the fan for Green Lantern after that awesome flop GL movie starring Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively.

Would have made more sense if the story wasn't so horrible.

Then writer Geoff Johns decides to go and do some retcons and at the same time make changes on the mythos and the whole status quo with War of the Green Lanterns.

Green Lantern # 9 Spoilers - Indigo-1 is a Murderer

Like the title for the post? Well you got to believe it. DC Comics' Green Lantern # 9 just came out this week and it had some sweet revelations about the mysterious Indigo Tribe.

In this latest issue written by Geoff Johns with art by Doug Mahnke, we get to see Hal Jordan confront his newly transformed friend and mentor Sinestro.  Last issue's cliffhanger ending featured Thaal Sinestro wearing the traditional suit of the Indigo Tribe including the staff.

Jordan manages to escape into the forest after a few close calls in the battle between the Indigos and an obviously weakened Jordan.

Spoilers for Justice League # 5

The still unofficially formed Justice League in Justice League # 5 features a few shocks and a lot of great moments for the New 52 comic book written by Geoff Johns and art by Jim Lee.

 

Oh and you will not believe what Batman does in this particular issue.
