Avengers # 23 Spoilers - Red Hulk is Better Than any Truth Serum
Red Hulk makes a very compelling argument how important he is to the modern day Avengers in Avengers # 23 by Brian Michael Bendis and Daniel Acuna.
Some minor and major spoilers after the cut.
In the latest issue, we get to see the Avengers still being in captivity thanks to Norman Osborn and HAMMER plus AIM, HYDRA and all sorts of baddies.
This time though, Daisy Johnson saves the day and invades the stronghold.
Gotta hand it to Daniel Acuna for giving us such a great looking issue featuring great character moments as well as a nice cliffhanger. With every new issue, we get to find out how cool and "likeable" Rulk is despite us knowing that this is actually Thunderbolt Ross.
So anyway, with most of the team free from the clutches of this newly reformed HAMMER organization, Iron Man gets his hands on the SHIELD doctor who basically handed the keys to heaven to Norman Osborn - Dr. Washington and this is where the hilarity occurs.
Again kudos to Dniel Acuna for doing such an awesome job for this issue even if there were only a few real "action sequences" for this latest issue. We wouldn't even be seeing how truly intimidating Rulk is ever since he joined the Avengers public team.
That look in Dr. Washington's face together with her answer were some of the best moments for me in this book. Oh wait that and the thrashing of the newly joined old-school member Vision.
In all honesty, I wasn't surprised that Bendis would write Bendis as this now powerful villain. What I'm surprised though was how much he wanted to stick into reader's minds' that he's an actual threat rather than just returning him to the Spider-Man books.
The final page for this current storyarc was nice and it really made it clear that the new roster of Avengers are neck deep from all the crap they've done to be restored to their old setup.
Totally loved how Acuna depicted Osborn lugging around The Vision. If you want to know what happens next, go check out New Avengers # 22.
