6 THOUGHTS ON JUSTICE LEAGUE # 13 - SUPERMAN SUPERFRIENDZONED?

I've been reading and re-reading this month's issue of Justice League (which was written by Geoff Johns with art by Tony Daniel) and it raise a few questions once more. Here are six thoughts about Justice League # 13.

1. Superman and Wonder Woman's relationship in limbo

The end of Justice League # 12 featured that controversial kiss between Superman and Wonder Woman. This issue picks up moments after that happened and its apparently obvious that it was just their loins dictating their actions at that moment. When Diana realizes what happened, she pulls back and leaves Superman behind. I thought that moment was a turning point for Diana and Clark? So how come this happens? Hmmmm.

(MAJOR FRIENDZONE MOMENT FOR THIS)

2. Cheetah Beats Wonder Woman

It's pretty surprising that Wonder Woman gets trumped so easily in a span of a few pages. My gripe here is the fact that it didn't even seem like Cheetah was doing much in their fight. It's like a couple of slashes and then BOOM Diana is floored all of a sudden. This or the former might have been distracted by what Barbara Minerva was telling her to do.

3. The Origin of Cheetah and Graves are Similar

Is it just me or is it being made to appear that the Justice League or at least one of the members of the League are the cause of the creation of their own rogues? Batman indirectly created Joker, Superman's power was what drove Luthor to become that he is and now it appears Diana also has the same effect on Barbara Minerva's life.

Another thing is that (and I'm sorry to say this) Johns writing of new 'origins' for established DC characters are getting sloppier. 'A Villain's Journey' baddie David Graves for example never got full closure and we have a lot of wholes about the villain's past despite his arc already done.

It's also interesting to note that both villains also have deep roots with the League. Graves was rescued by the League during the Apokolips Attack arc and was responsible for writing the book about the new superteam. Minerva was the first friend that Wonder Woman made when she arrived and within the five year period became the curator of the A.R.G.U.S. Black Room.

4. Socially Awkward Superheroes and Weird Editorial Mandates

What gives? After they kiss and then they go their separate ways. When they meet once again in the Watchtower, they have this awkward, silent moment.

That's until they decide to focus once more on the trouble with the Cheetah.

5. Barry Allen and Vic Stone = Fast Friends

This might just be the reason why we rarely see Cyborg interact with the general DCU populace. This bit of dialogue should also give a hint to DC creators about how pertinent Cyborg's role is for the League and for the New 52 universe as well.

6. Cheetah Superman

RAWRRR!
