Picking up shortly after the conclusion of AVX (Avengers vs X-Men) this new series aims to be flagship title for both the Avengers books and the X-Men books. It's like a PR save for both teams after suffering huge losses during the war between the two teams and later on with the Phoenix Five.
So anyway the book starts off with the Red Skull seemingly lobotomizing somebody (whether or not this is Avalance we have yet to see). In New York, the X-Men attend the funeral of Charles Xavier who died at the hands of Cyclops...
Captain America and Thor speak to Havok regarding taking on the leadership mantle after the events of AVX. Summers declines but before it could go any further the trio respond to an attack by Avalanche. The battle ends when the villain seemingly plunges to his death.
Back at the Mansion, Rogue catches Scarlet Witch saying her prayers for Xavier. They trade insults and then they decide to just beat the crap out of each other.
In the midst of their fight Red Skull's new team make a grand appearance to take something from the school. The two fend off against the attackers but Wanda gets stabbed...
Back in the villain's headquarters we finally see what the new baddies took from the school's cemetery... the body of Charles Xavier.
And what does Red Skull want with the brain of Charles Xavier?
