A Closer Look at the Man of Steel Emblems

I'm always fascinated by coat-of-arms and so here's me analyzing or failing at analyzing the 'coat-of-arms' which will be seen in Warner Bros.' "Man of Steel" starring Henry Cavill as Superman/ Clark Kent.

So let's see is really just a skewered version of the "S" shield logo from "Superman Returns". Rather than sticking to the classic look, the creative team for the movie added some nice touches such as the intertwining lines. They've also managed to fatten up the middle part of the logo. Love what they did to the upper "S", they made it look sleeker like somehow getting inspiration from a car logo or something.

A friend pointed out that if you dissect the logo, you'll come up with different S styles including a very thin S which is similar to the first emblem Superman wore back in Action Comics # 1 (non-New 52).

Another interesting logo/emblem/ coat-of-arms set to appear in "Man of Steel" belongs to General Zod which will be played by Michael Shannon. Here's what it looks like up close.

Up until this point, I've only seen the logo on various action figure tie-ins to the movie. I seriously can't remember if Zod's costume was displayed in SDCC 2012. I know that Faora's and Superman's costumes were on display there but not Zod's.

Anyway, this logo is generating significant buzz for a number of reasons. One of those reasons is that General Zod's logo has some similarities with Darkseid's 'Omega Effect'.

This in effect might lead in to bigger things such as well, say, a JUSTICE LEAGUE movie. While that movie is still in limbo right now, there are still some persistent rumors that Darkseid will be in that movie and that Zod is only a forerunner for further things and events.

Meanwhile there's also the emblem/coat-of-arms for Faora (Antje Traue).

Stare at this for a good minute or so and you'll see the logo of Gatchaman. Try it.
