Reasons to Pick Up Loki: Agent of Asgard

Loki: Agent of Asgard was surprisingly good. Here are several reasons why you really should pick up this book written by Al Ewing and Lee Garbett. Also spoilers here.

Here we go.

1. Loki Owns Thor

Loki - Agent of Asgard 001-001

If you feel like Thor deserved some righteous smackdown in last year's Thor: The Dark World then you'll get your satisfaction knowning that Loki skewers Thor (not the way you're thinking) with a mythical sword.

2. One Direction-y Beefcake Moment

Loki - Agent of Asgard 001-004

I have no idea what the hell Loki's singing but he does cement the idea that Hawkeye put forth later in the issue, that this version of Loki looks like a mix between Tom Hiddleston and a reject from One Direction.

3. Loki's Missions are Unseeming

Loki - Agent of Asgard 001-018

This first issue set the tone for the book while under the direction of Al Ewing (who's really hitting all the high notes with this and Mighty Avengers). The missions might not seem much but it's very intricate. I really hope this becomes a constant on the book.

4.The All-Mothers Are Playing a Different Game

Loki - Agent of Asgard 001-021

So yeah, we already know that the teenage Loki we're seeing is a new guy, so why are the All-Mothers bringing back the old, evil Loki back in the fold? Also, he looks horrendous too.You have to admit this'll really pique your curiosity.

There's a lot of other brilliant moments in this book but I have to stop lest I post the entire book. Just believe me when I say that this book truly delivers.

And That Weird Spider-Hero in Mighty Avengers is None Other Than

... spoilers ahead...

... is none other than Blade, i.e. Blade the Vampire Hunter...

This could mean that there are vampires down the line. Question is why would Blade need Photon's (Monica Rambeau) help when he's a really skilled vampire hunter already. Considering how pretty useless he was back in Victor Gischler's X-Men run, may he does need some help after all.

Oh and I've been spoiled over the identity of the new Ronin...

You guys really should read up more on Mighty Avengers.

NYCC 2013 - LOKI: AGENT OF ASGARD Announced

A new series for what I refer to as MARVEL NOW 2 has been revealed as LOKI: AGENT OF ASGARD.

So yeah, the new book will be written by Al Ewing (Mighty Avengers) while art would be provided by Lee Garbett and has this whole spy-espionage thing going on. But check this...

... the dude looks a lot like the Tom Hiddleston version of Loki... The design is pretty neat if you ask me and it seems like this was designed by Jamie McKelvie.

Ladies, believe me, this is a close as you can get to reading a Tom Hiddleston-esque Loki. At least he's no longer "Kid Loki".

Ewing played coy to the how's and what fors and if you want to read the full interview he did, scoot over to Marvel.com [Link]

Yup, It's The Mighty Avengers with Greg Land

So it's official there's another Avengers book coming out of the woodwork soon and it's something that's a bit of a surprise, in fact it's mighty-ly surprising. Mighty Avengers folks with Al Ewing and Greg Land

There's actually of bits and pieces that you need to analyze and read so I'd recommend you visit Newsarama for that. This is what I can say however, it's a team led by Luke Cage; It's spinning directly out of the events of Infinity and they have the Superior Spider-Man in it. Here's something of interest however, these characters are former and future and current Avengers, yet they've never functioned as a team.

Also getting an 'Ultimate Spider-Man' vibe while looking at these promotional materials.

Oh and is that -- Ronin? But who could be under the mask? That couldn't be Clint Barton as he's Hawkeye again and its not even Echo because she's like dead already. Interesting.
