Connor's Grandfather Edward Kenway Stars in Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag First Trailer

The release of the new trailer for Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag made several important revelations. The biggest one so far answered the question who do players control in this new game from Ubisoft

So who is it anyway? It's actually Connor Kenway's grandfather Edward Kenway.

I'm not really surprised with their decision to use Edward Kenway during his younger years since his life is the missing piece of the puzzle. I mean we already know what happened to Haytham before going to the United States up until his death at the hands of his own estranged son Connor.

What's still a mystery for me is who will players follow in the real world especially since Ubisoft's already decided to off Desmond Miles. My bet here for this new game is that we'll be meeting a new character that'll be part Templar and part Assasin who will be working with William Miles, Rebecca and Shaun Hastings.
If anything the new game will take all the good stuff from Assassin's Creed III and made it the basis for the rest of the game. I liked the naval battles for the third game and I really want that back in and they did so (thank you Ubisoft). Hopefully though, the story they weave will be of better quality. That's one thing I hated about AC3, the story.  Meanwhile, check out the other 'leaked' screenshots from the game. Looks like there's more interactivity that'll happen between the player and the boat.
One thing that might become an issue here is the game's step back in terms of era. I loved the first few Assassin's Creed games because of the way they introduced new places and new eras. We've got Altair's Crusade era story in Assassin's Creed then we move over to Ezio in Rennaisance era Italy in ACII, then Rome in Brotherhood and finally Constantinople in Revelations then centuries later we have the adventures of the Kenways in AC III. Come the fourth game, we're sent back to an earlier time frame before the birth of the United States.
