The Top 6 Things to Like About Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 3

Just finished my first run for Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 from Namco Bandai and while I can't say I'm really, really happy with how the game turned out, there's still a lot of things that I'm raving about. I've actually got six. Here's my review/ rave for Namco's Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Storm 3.

6. 30 Characters to Choose from

There's variety and there's Ultimate Ninja Storm 3. This beast has 30 characters to choose from. Can't blame them, the anime and the manga has a rich number of characters from the main ninjas of Konoha to the different hidden village nins and kages. Plus all the baddies from the first part and up to the ones we've seen in the manga. It's just a bitch that they have three (AFAIK) different Narutos and Sasukes, these could've been used for other characters.

5. Perfect Crash Course

Sure the game's main story is based on what's running on the anime and manga, but it's also a great letting you catch up on the actual Naruto Shippuden anime series with all their stupid fillers that span how many episodes. The time you'll spend doing a marathon will be better spent playing campaign mode. A word of warning though as you need to start from after Pain/ Nagato and Naruto's battle. If you're hoping to learn what happened before that, get the previous Ninja Storm game.Oh and spoiler alert, the game ends after Naruto gets his Chakra Sage Mode which is pretty impressive.

4. Fast Paced Action

One thing that satisfies me here in Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 is the versatility of the gameplay. Casual gamers and Naruto fans can enjoy the standard game which is 1 on 1. It eliminates load times from the previous games (including the Accel games) because players are given three life bars to work with. If you're the ever lovin' masochist then you can kick things up a notch with the team play setup wherein you pick two additional characters who act as your support. This intensifies the game threefold as you need to outsmart not just your main opponent but also the two other support characters who are summoned either to add more damage or defend enemies as they charge up their chakra.

It also helps that some quick button punching sequences are incorporated in the game such in the final moments of the game's campaign mode when Naruto finally squares off against Tobi/ Obito.

3. Playthrough the Naruto Birth Chapter

One of the best things about this Naruto fighter is the addition of the sequence/ story arc featuring Naruto's mother and father (which was also the basis for the movie Naruto: Road to Ninja albeit some changes here and there) Kushina and Minato. The developers managed to keep everything intacting while porting that part as even some of the more gory scenes are still present. It's pretty to look at and hell of fun to play, particularly the part where we get to control the Third Hokage.

2. Ultimate Jutsu Attacks

I'm not sure why I get such a huge kick watching the characters from this game/ series finish off opponents with an ultimate jutsu attack. All I know is that I just do. Since we're talking about 30 different characters, you'd be surprise at the playtime you've accomplished and logged ever since you started. It's tricky and challenging to get the timing right but when you do, it's fulfilling to beat your friends using these explosive finishers. Plus, TAILED BEAST BOMB!

1. Jinchurikis and Tailed Beasts

There's nothing like being able to slice through opponents using a powerful character and in the world of Naruto, no other beings are powerful enough than the Jinchurikis and their respective tailed beasts. Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 does more than just introduce the other tailed beast bearers, we can actually play them or against them in various modes.

Speaking of the tailed beast, be also prepared to play through the ending with so much exposure to the various tailed beasts. And it's just such a blast to watch Naruto waste the other Jinchurikis and beasts.
