7 Reasons Why We Need to Stop Tuning in to the Vhong Navarro Case

Can't let this issue slide but I certainly hate this. To be honest, I'm pretty sick of the whole Vhong Navarro -Deniece Cornejo - Cedric Lee story. It's drivel and utter garbage and people certainly have more things to do than tune in and watch what passes as 'news' trickle. It was good the first two days but with so many things happening, we really should stop this.

Credit: Examiner
1. It's veiled network war - ABS-CBN is defending Vhong's honor. I get that, it's part of their responsibility as an employer. They play the whole angle of Vhong being innocent while GMA pushes to pain Vhong as the evil, rapist out to get the 'purity' of one Ms. Deniece Cornejo. They throw news all day, countering each other's reports. It's definitely the network war in a whole new playing field and we're all stuck with it.

2. Politicians are riding in it now - Rather than focus on Napoles and her sordid activities with taxpayer money, politicians like Jinggoy Estrada and Bong Revilla are doing 'everything they can to bring justice to Vhong'. They want to ride on the popularity of this non-issue to divert attention from other matters.

3. Slut-shaming - I fucking hate people who have slut shamed a person they don't even know till like 40 minutes ago. We don't know what really happened so let's not throw stones at this supposed 'Mary Magdalene'. The way the comments thread on any news outlet flows, there's always bound to be a 'P.I.' or tarantado or even death threats. What if it's your little sister that got involved in this? You'd probably tear other people's hearts right?

4. Patronizing - That's one problem I have with society. We patronize people too much. We're all monsters, we all have a dark side and it's just not right to patronize ourselves TOO MUCH. Why the fuck was Vhong in the condo, meeting a girl privately despite the fact that he has a girlfriend. Ano to magbabahay-bahayan lang sila? The hashtag #justiceforvhong is just over the wall. seriously.

5. There's No Pay Off - standby a news or an issue if there's a payoff. Our first step towards peace in Mindanao has been achieved and yet we are all tuned in for the exclusive on the Vhong Navarro- Deniece Cornejo - Cedric Lee case. Once that's done, where does that leave us? Yolanda victims are still reeling from the disaster and yet here we are, moving on with our lives and making 'chismis' on a (and I cannot stress this enough) NON-ISSUE.

Also, we don't earn money from this and yet we spend so much time... even in social media.

6. It turns people into experts - just like how a Manny Pacquiao match can turn all of us into veteran sports analysts, this non-issue is turning the average Juan Dela Cruz into lawyers, detectives and medico legals. That's how absurd this is.

7. Reminder that the Rich Gets More - does it not hurt you that this is getting so much attention and yet other cases are scoffed? Yes that's right, it's because the ones involved are rich AND famous. We wouldn't even be batting an eyelash if it were some poor Juan or Juana in Tondo.

I know there's a whole lot more but I just don't want to completely ruin my day. Wake up people. Tune out and start talking about other things, you'll be happier if you do so.

Hotel Sogo and Their Funny Marketing Tactics

I really can't stop laughing with all the crazy and zany stuff that's been coming out Sogo Hotel's Facebook fanpage. I mean no offense to the marketing team developing the content that's being released but they are funny as hell.

So what's really interesting here is the approach and it's campy-ness. I just LOL a lot at those. Campiness is great. People might think that it's dumb but it's great actually, at least in small dosages.

Take this one for example. Collateral is all about 'student bonding in the SOGO rooms'.

Humor me. I like the approach and the general vibe they want to tell people what with their rebranding. It's really just a bit.... tacky? The colors don't match and while you know that they are trying to tell people that they want to be seen as a wholesome hotel where students can do group studies... It just doesn't rub it the right way.

On to the next one.

There's a term called 'double negative'. I'm not really sure what to laugh about. The ridiculous and accursed use of the term 'selfie' or the fact that they have a contest for selfies.

I'm not sure with the exact numbers of guests checking-in but I would like to make a guess that half are there to really crash and sleep with the other half looking to ummmm... you know what they want. So yeah, I hope you get the picture

I have to admire Hotel Sogo for creating this as wives who are being cheated on by their husbands (or the other way around) might have a fighting chance of getting incriminating evidence thanks to this contest. BRAVO! Seriously Bravo!

This one is just off like a quarter-mile.

Mot-mots bring people to heaven. Period. That ain't a guess, that's fact. That being said, do they really have to go and mention the bible? Kinda off the wall don't you think.

Seriously, I admire SOGO for going aggressive but I'm kinda left wondering what they really plan to do. Do they want to first change their image or do they want to show the interwebs that they are active in social media. Doing two things at once can't be done especially since they are steering away from the image of being a motel where the deed gets done and the babies get a 'kickstarter funding' #iykwim

From a business standpoint I don't want to laugh anymore, honestly, I don't.  Not everybody can see through the message so maybe a change of attack pattern and approach is in order.

Also, the way it's going viral, you might find it funny but they are actually hitting an important benchmark, they are getting publicity. We are doing it for them. This post, is doing it for them. Heck I even clicked on "Like" on their fanpage after seeing the bible post.

Just saying. (Thanks to Jeman of Orange Magazine TV for the heads up on his feed)

Channing Tatum Tweets Mabuhay!

MANILA, July 2, 2013 – Channing Tatum tweeted this morning a Mabuhay greeting to the Philippines with an invitation for Filipinos to watch his new action thriller “White House Down.”

The actor tweeted, “Mabuhay, Philippines! Go and see White House Down in cinemas July 3!”

Directed by Roland Emmerich, the film tells of Capitol Policeman John Cale (Tatum) has just been denied his dream job with the Secret Service of protecting President James Sawyer. Not wanting to let down his little girl with the news, he takes her on a tour of the White House, when the complex is overtaken by a heavily armed paramilitary group. Now, with the nation’s government falling into chaos and time running out, it’s up to Cale to save his daughter, the president, and the country.

White House Down” is distributed by Columbia Pictures, local office of Sony Pictures Releasing International.

Since we're already on the subject of White House Down, here's my review which opens TODAY! ~ http://tiny.cc/f57dzw

Trending - Chavit Singson Partying Like a Boss

Remember that scene in Iron Man where Tony Stark cajoles Jim Rhodes aka War Machine to get drunk on the flight to the military testing site? Yeah, in a way, that was epic with hot girls dancing and drinks following at 30,000 above sea level. A local politician does the same thing and more with a photo of his getting some buzz on Facebook.

Now trending on social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter is the photo of former whistle blower Chavit Singson on a plane. with half a dozen beautiful babes. drinking scotch.

Now, I'm smirking and doing a "hell yeah" on this photo. We have to admit whether we like it or not that Singson is definitely acting like a boss because of this photo.
