Thunderbolts Annual # 1 - That Time the Thunderbolts Went Dungeons and Dragons

... and that time when Frank Castle quipped about being The Punisher and also that time when S.H.I.E.L.D. reveals they have a magic department called W.A.N.D. All of this happens in Thunderbolts Annual.

Frank Castle Killing Frost Giants

Leave it to Frank Castle aka The Punisher to crack a surprisingly unfunny joke while felling frost giants in Jotunheim. That sounds awfully familiar but I just can't figure out where I've heard that before.

W.A.N.D.

The Thunderbolts gets a little change of attire in this issue as well. If I may, I totally love Deadpool's costume. Reminds me so much of that "Deadpoolio" bit in the Deadpool game.

It's been awhile since anybody mentioned about Fear Itself and seeing Samuel Sterns aka Mr. Blue aka The Leader wearing a modified version of Iron Man's "The Mighty" armor made of uru metal, sure gave me a bit of smile.
I'm sure this year's Thunderbolts Annual is still being sold in stores around the metro. Might as well get it.

Marvel Now Thunderbolts Minimates Coming Next Year

The Marvel Now version of the Thunderbolts are coming to a LCS near you come next year. This new box set will feature some of Marvel's toughest heroes working together on clandestine and dirty jobs no other heroes can touch!

Here's the breakdown of the characters (as if you didn't know them)
  • Red Hulk (Thunderbolt Ross)
  • Elektra
  • Punisher
  • Deadpool
And rather than give us an extra figure in the pack, we're given a different (not to mention weird) head sculpt for Rulk's alter ego...

Sucks though that they didn't include the Agent Venom version in this box set, that'd totally rock!

Marvel Legends Brings Out the Thunderbolts for SDCC 2013

One of my favorite iterations of the Thunderbolts aside from the classic team as well as the Civil War era one was the Luke Cage led version. That team was the best looking team not to mention had a variety of skill sets. Now Hasbro is bringing that version of the THUNDERBOLTS to their MARVEL LEGENDS line for SDCC 2013

This team will be composed of the following members:

Joe Madureira and Zeb Wells Locked in Wolverine/Spider-Man Project

Details are still sketchy but Marvel Comics has announced that original Avenging Spider-Man creative team Zeb Wells and Joe Madureira will be returning once again to do a Wolverine and Spider-Man story.

GetMAD_02

Rumor has it that the project includes a third wheel, Elektra, but that was so long ago. Maybe things have changed and it's just the Canucklehead and the wall crawler that'll star in this new project. Elektra after all is busy kissing the Punisher in the relaunched Thunderbolts.

First Look at Marvel Minimates Wave 50 - the Fan Favorite Winners

Here's the first look at the upcoming minimates from Art Asylum and Diamond Select Toys dubbed as the Marvel Minimates wave 50.

So here's the breakdwon of the characters:

1. Deathlok Spider-Man
2. Danny Ketch Ghost Rider
3. Modern Baron Zemo (Thunderbolts)
4. WWII Baron Zemo
5. Nova
6. Songbird (Thunderbolts)
7. Onslaught

I love the Thunderbolts as much as the next guy but I'm wondering why they even decided to go with a Spider-Man/ Deathlok. I guess it just boils down to what figure will never see the light of day as a "Best Of" after a few years.

Marvel Replaces Thunderbolts with Dark Avengers

Marvel Comics has announced that they are officially replacing the ongoing "Thunderbolts" book with a new title called "Dark Avengers" but retains the original numbering for the book.

The new "soft relaunch" will still be written by Thunderbolts team composed of writer Jeff Parker together with the rotating team of artists Declan Shalvey and Kev Walker.

The book will still show Luke Cage as the team leader and will now be taking over the Dark Avengers team that Norman Osborn brought together during the last story arc of Brian Michael Bendis "New Avengers" and "Avengers" books.

If you're wondering what the heck happened to the former Green Goblin and former Director of H.A.M.M.E.R. you'd be glad to know that he was transformed into a "Super Adaptoid" and later landed in a deep coma after absorbing ALL the powers of the Avengers including the special alien DNA coming from The Protector aka Marvel Boy.

Expect the New Dark Avengers to make an appearance in Thunderbolts # 175 which is going to be retitled as Thunderbolts # 175.
