The new book tells the tale of Cable becoming the bad guy in order to prevent the future he lands on after his apparent "death" in Second Coming...
it seems like the world was razed to the ground and is only filled with ash from apparent burning....
Captain America tries to locate his partner and with the help of the Falcon's pet Redwing, he manages to find Sam who was already placed in a containment unit. When Cap tries to get Sam out he finds Cable is waiting to ambush him.
After exchanging thoughs about the matter Cable and Captain America fight. In the heat of the battle, the two find themselves trading weapons. Cable brandishing Cap's shield while Steve fires a few rounds of Cable's sidearm.
We also see a flashback of the events that brought Cable back to the past....
AHA! So apparently, this timeline that Cable landed in was apparently devastated by the Phoenix (who's coming to town in "Avengers vs X-Men"). Blaquesmith states that if Hope Summers were alive and was present when the Phoenix razed the world to the ground she would've been able to prevent the carnage.
By the end of the issue it seems like Cable pulled the trigger taking out Captain America (like that would happen especially since this is Captain fricking America were talking about).
