Avengers X-Sanction # 3 - Cable Beats the Red Hulk

Spoilers for Avengers X-Sanction # 3 by Jeph Loeb and Ed McGuiness featuring the titanic battle between Cable and Red Hulk.

The last issue ended with Rulk seemingly blasting Cable behind his back which seemed like a pretty incredible feat especially since the guy is fricking huge

The latest issue begins with that but there's a surprise twist. Blaquesmith comes to the rescue and gets a few shots on the crimson Hulk providing an opening for Cable to go old school on Rulk's ass.
We also get to scenes unfold in Cable's past future where the time displaced X-Man surveys the technology that is still available for his war with Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

It's pretty interesting to note that:
  • Iron Man develops an Iron Man armor that incoporates Sentinel technology
  • The Avengers kept that classic chair that Magneto used before to keep the X-Men in check
  • Wolverine is dead and his skeleton is prominently displayed in this "musuem"
  • Gambit's staff is kept with the Avengers and also uses Stark technology.
  • The Avengers also kept the Dr. Doom's time sliding machine.
Things get weirder and weirder when Rulk continues to keep on kicking; the red dude even threw a friggin anchor at Cable. Beaten and bloodied, Cables does a "hail mary" by unleashing the T-O virus on Rulky.

Before delivering the killing blow (after Cable realizes that he's not dealing with Glenn Talbot and as such doesn't survive into the future he comes from) Cyclops and Hope Summers arrive in the scene.

There's a bit of drama and tension between the reunited father and son and father and daughter. This ultimately leads to Cyclops deciding to free Captain America before Cable proceeds with his plans. Cable disagrees and before the two comes to blows, Hope decides to intervene.

But before anything cool happens, Avengers team mates, Spider-Man and Wolverine gets to the freighter with the plan on stopping Cable and freeing their fallen teammates.

Things are really looking hot for the last issue for this surprisingly great read.
