Age of Apocalypse # 1 Spoilers - Cyclops is Alive
Marvel releases "Age of Apocalypse # 1" by David Lapham and Roberto Delatorre which spans out from the events that transpired in Uncanny X-Force's Dark Angel Saga.
This is also the third official time that we'll be seeing the group of human freedom fighters known as "X-Terminated" as campy as it sounds, these guys are effing vicious.
Magneto and Rogue dead
While this is actually a good starting point for readers, it would be a good idea to pick up Uncanny X-Force # 19.1 which details how these heroes died and how the heck did Jean Grey lose her powers. It's also a surprise to see Azazel in this dimension.
Sabretooth gets beaten now that he's officially depowered and the world as we know it is screwed even further because X-Terminated and the remaining X-Men's plan backfired. Bollivar Trask together with the man known as Prophet (William Stryker) also arrest Sabretooth for his war crimes.
X-Terminating X-Position
There's a segment of the book wherein Lapham introduces us to the civilian identities of our "heroes" which includes Franny Trask (Fiend), Zora Risman (Deadeye), Graydon Creed (Horror Show),and Donald Pierce (Goodnight). After those little introduction, the book kicks into high gear and gets the action going.
Daredevil - Bad Guy
In the AOA Universe, Daredevil is a bad guy. While it's already been revealed that he's not a mutant, he still has extraordinary powers which Wolverine puts to good use.
The team swoops in to save their target and battle Daredevil and his minions.
But it's Prophet himself who tries to beat the crap out of DD with nothing but his skills and experience as a fighter.
Pretty impressive, the guy might just be my new favorite character for this book.
After interogating their target, they investigate an old abandoned factory which used to be the Dark Beast's laboratory. What Deadeye finds out shocks her and the rest of her team. They get greeted by a very much alive Cyclops.
If you've haven't caught up with AOA, Wolverine and Jean are married while Cyclops and Havok are working for Apocalypse during his reign. By the end of AOA it was assumed that Cyke perished but it seems that is not the case.
There you have it, the first issue of Age of Apocalypse which is really, really intriguing. It looks like a good read since the art has this really grim and gritty feel to it.
