This has got to be a very Jean Grey-centric book that we've all been missing for such a long time now. I got the book solely because it spotlights the recently returned Ms. Grey.
Spoilers begin after the cut.
1. Beast working with his younger self
I would've punched Marvel Comics including the writer if they did not do this. Why make Beast suffer and go through the whole ordeal of mutating once more if his younger self won't be there to assist him in every step of the way.
2. Cyclops gets another new mutant and christens his school the new "Charles Xavier School"
Leave it older Cyclops to go and "live a legacy" despite the fact that Charles Xavier died at his hands during the events of AVX. Massive props to Stuart Immonen for making it possible to see what this new "X-Tinction Team" is doing in rebuilding a new school. Oh and I really thought Magneto's powers are still screwy. So why is he able to manipulate metal in his most casual way.
3. Jean Grey Officially Finds out about her Death
While repairing the damage in his mutant chromosome with his younger self, Hank manages to squeeze in a few minutes to talk about the former Jean's life and multiple deaths. He opens his mind to Jean who experiences a torrent of emotion and events. Of course, being regular comic book readers we'll know that this will end badly for the character who does the mindscan.
4. Hank McCoy Gets another New Look
I'm going to be the minority here when I say that I've already gotten used to the cat version of the Beast. And since we're already used to this look which started around Grant Morrison's "New X-Men" run, that iteration has done a lot of cool things. Now we've got this hulking new Beast with his mind still intact and I'm assuming will be the new team's "tank" character replacing Colossus (who is currently running with Cable and the X-Force).
5. Kitty Assumes Leadership and Training for the Original Five
It's been awhile since Kitty's been used properly. Yes Jason Aaron made her the lady-boss for Logan's school but ever since she assumed that role, she's been visibly absent. We rarely see her even outside of the school. Heck she even had to sit out the action in AVX just to be able to be "headmistress" Pryde and not the former X-Man.
6. Scott and Jean's non-official breakup
Poor Scott. 20 seconds from jumping into the future and his co-mutants already hate him. Most of the senior team of the X-Men are still on the fence as to how they should treat the young mutant and after Jean's earlier mindscan, he's also the object of Jean Grey's hatred.
