Nightwing Dies in Injustice: Gods Among Us # 16 and More Spoilers

I've decided to drop the Injustice: Gods Among Us ongoing comic book not because it sucked but because it just presented the lamest death I have ever seen.

In this issue, Robin gets manhandled by Solomon Grundy but is rescued by Superman's heat vision which cuts Grundy's hand clean.

Superman follows up by blasting through the giant's chest...

Before he could even recover, Batman puts the lid of the gruesome monstrosity by putting two bombs and blasting his head clean...

It was cool moment after cool moment in this book, until the issue's second half...

Meanwhile a few floors up, Robin and Nightwing are handling cleanup of the escaped Arkham inmates. Robin (Damian Wayne) has also seemingly killed The Riddler by snapping his neck.

Tensions have come to a fever pitch in this issue as Robin lashes out at Nightwing after a clash of philosophy. Damian finally has had enough and throws his arnis at his older 'brother'. 

What happens next has got to be the silliest thing I have ever seen in a DC Comic book. Robin's arnis stick connects and hits Nightwing in the temple knocking him unconscious. OK, maybe it's normal for normal heroes like Dick to get blindsided once in awhile so I'll give them that. But the moment you 'kill' him off by simply getting his neck snapped after hitting a rock, will truly be ridiculous.

This prompts Batman to go bat-shit crazy. It's also symbolic that this version of Batman obviously loves Nightwing more than his real son Damian.

So Dick just goes like that. A stupid accident claims him. Not a heroic death, not a surprise shocker and certainly not a sacrifice play. It was just a blindside attack that escalated into an accident.
