The Humidor - Probably the Best Hidden Bar in Cubao Ex

The Humidor in English refers to a box with perfect room temperature to preserve the quality of cigars and cigarettes. It could also refer to this stylish and quiet little bar in the middle of Cubao Ex where you get to chill in cozy couches with inexpensive Japanese food and superior foreign beer.

More photos and my recommendation for this bar after the cut.

From the outside, the Humidor doesn't look like a bar at all, you'll probably mistake the place as either a furniture shop or something else while walking through the quaint streets of Cubao Ex. Take a second look however and you'll discover that it might just be the best place (other than the vinyl shop across) in the area.

The place is suitably lit for a good chill session, the seats are comfy and the music that they play ranges anywhere from Bob Dylan to PSY's Gentlement just for the heck of it. However, owner Allan Flores boasts that some nights they play really good music spanning generations. So don't be surprised if on your visit you'll be hearing Elvis or the Beatles.

As my friend Francis pointed out while we were talking over drinks last night, The Humidor has all the elements that's A-Ok for an evening in Ex. Aircon, yosi, alak all in one place. Bonus props that they've got a lot of unique pica-picas served. I recommend the cold cuts if you're gearing for a long drinking session. You can also try their California Maki; Pam wasn't particular about it but I loved it. After all, the servings were large.

Basically what  I'm trying to tell you is that the food here is wonderful, what'd you expect, I'm half believing that this is partly due to the goodness of Alan's Grill rubbing off to the Humidor's food choices.

Yes, I am now officially a big fan of Absolut Kurant. Goes well with The Humidor's Cold Cuts
If you're a tobacco afficionado, The Humidor will also suit you. They carry a lot of different local Tabacalera cigars which you can choose from with the cheapest starting at Php 75.

If there's any other comment I have for The Humidor, it's that it's small but even that works to their appeal and advantage as it gives you this privacy and ease of mind. Plus when you meet the regulars of the bar, it's going to feel like you're just one big 'barkada'.

Overall, The Humidor is a great place to unwind and just enjoy. It's got modestly priced food and drinks plus a cozy ambiance and friendly faces. My visit actually warrants a second and a third visit and many numerous returns.

So if you're in the Cubao area and you want to try something new, I recommend and suggest that you go and visit The Humidor. Trust me, you'll thank me that you did.

Oh and to our venerable host last night, HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAN! You rock!
