Here are some ways the Man behind the strip can bounce back quickly.
Flipreads has been around for some time. I met the guys responsible for Flipreads a year back while walking around KOMIKON. The format and business model was interesting. What they basically provide is legit ebooks for Asia. A couple of Indie creators here in the RP even have copies of their works in digital format and available for a very inexpensive price on this carrier. Perhaps Pugad Baboy as a business entity can start looking this way to make up for the lost income due to this uncalled for sacking by PDI.
2. Go JL8
Yale Stewart's JL8 has been thriving ever since it began a few years back. While we'll never see an actual printed copy of JL8 (you know why) it's still getting a good dose of income thanks to commissions, t-shirts and much more. Maybe it's high time that PB follow this school of thought. After all, the strip has been running for decades now (it start 1988) so that amount of time has accumulated a strong following. Need more testament to that? Visit Pol's Facebook page and see the overflowing support from industry leaders and fans alike.
3. Work for the Competition
PDI screwed you up? Go to the Manila Bulletin or the Philippine Star. Both broadsheets have a strong stable of komiks creators working for them. Andrew Villar for example has Ambush comics set up nicely in MB while Lyndon Gregorio's Beerkada is doing well in Star. In fact I'm following the news feeds on Facebook and it seems that there are people already waiting to get Sir Pol's service after this stupid sacking.
*** This week is starting to suck balls bad. First we get a magnificent betrayal in GOT and now this sucker punch***
