Showing Support to the our Tackle Football National Team - the Pilipinas Aguilas

I'm totally psyched when I heard that the Philippines will be sending their first official national team to represent us in an American Football game. Folks let me introduce you to the PILIPINAS AGUILAS.

The guys were plucked from the different teams that consist the ABP or Arenaball Philippines football federation. We've got guys coming from different parts of the Philippines coming from different backgrounds and state in life. All of them united with one goal of representing our country when we square off against the Japanese team as part of the qualifiers for the 2015 IFAF Finals.

Lahat sila may pinaglalaban. That's the slogan for their campaign. And not only is it catchy, it reflects the Filipino resiliency. These guys represent us and not in a celebrity kinda of way. Not a Phil Younghusband kind of way. If I learned anything during the short blogger meet I did with them, it's that they are not in it for the money or the fame or the endorsement. It's a good cause and I support them fully.

I got to learn more about the team and how they are confident that they can beat Japan before reaching the final slot with whoever wins between the National Korean team and the Kuwait nationals team. There's something that really makes this team standout. They all have stories to tell, they ARE currently facing a 'David versus Goliath' setup what with Japan having more years of experience and training (50 plus years or so) versus ours which is just a month. Flimsy I know but you guys really should see how they play.

They are dads, sons, brothers. All of them looking to show the world that the Filipino is worth dying AND living for. They all have their own goals and aspirations, different and yet same once they hit the field. You simply cannot ignore this level of passion.

Last na, they shared a story of how one player from the team stands 5'1 and yet is the fastest, quickest member of the team. The guy can run; which again proves my point that we are well-suited to play Football and Ame. Football. We just don't want to.

I've picked up the part of promoting them as much as I can from here on out. Just wait for more details. And if you're big or you're fast and you think you've got what it takes to go toe to toe with giants (and become Eyeshield 21) there'll be try outs soon.
