Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures present “300: Rise of an Empire,” a bold new chapter in the “300” saga, hitting Philippine theaters nearly a decade after its 2006 predecessor, the Greek epic “300,” took the world by storm.
Based on Frank Miller’s latest graphic novel “Xerxes,” and told in the breathtaking visual style of the blockbuster “300,” this new chapter of the epic saga takes the action to a fresh battlefield—on the sea—as Greek general Themistokles attempts to unite all of Greece by leading the charge that will change the course of the war.

300: Rise of an Empire Hails Themistokles in 2 New Posters
Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures have unveiled two new posters for the upcoming action adventure “300: Rise of an Empire” that put Athenian general Themistokles front and center of the action.
The two one-sheet artworks show actor Sullivan Stapleton in battle-ready poses and wielding his blood-soaked sword.

“300: Rise of an Empire” pits Themistokles against the massive invading Persian forces led by mortal-turned-god Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro) and Artemesia (Eva Green), vengeful commander of the Persian navy.
The film is directed by Noam Murro, from a screenplay by Zack Snyder & Kurt Johnstad.
Opening across the Philippines on March 6, “300: Rise of an Empire” is distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

Gotham TV Series Adds Ben McKenzie as Young Jim Gordon
'GOTHAM' has found it's face in the form of actor Ben McKenzie.
He'll definitely be the lead if we're to believe the reports following the Gotham TV series. This is set years before Bruce Wayne decided to become a Batman. And if you've been reading Frank Miller's Batman Year One book, you'll know that it was gritty and violent. And if they'll be following the Miller route, then there will be a lot of baseball shots to the face and oodles of blunt force traumas and out-and-out beatings.
Like Arrow I have high hopes for this series. The biggest question I have right now is whether Ben McKenzie will be growing a moustache for this.
Gotham will be directed by David Cannon

Detective Comics # 27 Not Available for Subscribers
DC Comics wont be making bat-fans happy BY NOT GIVING A COPY OF DETECTIVE COMICS # 27 TO SUBSCRIBERS.
Yeah, you read that right, subscribers won't be getting Detective Comics # 27 and will be getting # 28. So that's basically skipping a month on an issue. Here's the letter that subscribers will be getting in the mail soon.
Here's the letter sent to a subscriber which somehow landed on the Facebook group The Reboot? wtf !! DC Comics Relaunch Group
To be fair with the publisher though, it is 96 pages of Batman done by a lot of big names in the industry including Bryan Hitch and even Frank Miller himself. It's 96 pages and costs roughly $8 so you can definitely see why they opted not to add this to the subscribed issues. But it still sucks nonetheless that the publisher wants to make more money rather moreso than keep their active subscribers happy and content. I know I won't be happy if this had happened to me.
Subscribers will be getting Detective Comics # 28 which will feature John Layman and Aaron Lopresti with a Batman/ Catwoman cover by Jason Fabok.

Real Action Heroes "The Dark Knight Returns" Batman Preview
Medicom's Real Action Heroes 1/6th scale toyline just got bigger with the announcement of their "The Dark Knight Returns" Batman figure. Yeah, the same mean Batman from Frank Miller's seminal tale.
No details have been given on the price and the release date. Just a couple of photos and same classic assurance that this figure is made of durable plastic with the costume made out of real cloth.
Sadly it's still up in the air whether or not Medicom will be doing a Carrie Kelly Robin figure to go along with this grizzled old Bat.

Tim Daly Squares Off Against Kevin Conroy
Happened in an episode of "The Daly Show" which I just discovered after this video went viral (and is hilarious too). In this video Daly gets tormented by all things Batman until the man himself, Kevin Conroy makes an appearance and beats the crap out of Tim Daly (who used to voice Superman in Superman: TAS and the Dini-verse Justice League series).
Some of the more epic moments here come from Conroy quoting that famous line from the Batman-Superman fight in Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns. Oh and a couple of throwbacks to the Nolan-verse Batman movies.
But the real epic thing here was hearing Conroy spout "I am the night, I am vengeance, I am Batman".

Superman/Batman Finally Happening
One of the biggest (if not the biggest) news from SDCC 2013 is the announcement of a SUPERMAN/BATMAN movie.
"I want you to remember, Clark…in all the years to come…in your most private moments…I want you to remember…my hand…at your throat…I want…you to remember…the one man who beat you."
That line of course was utterred famously by Batman during his fight with Superman in Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns...
Here's the photo of the logo as revealed to con-goers today...
On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd give this around 8.5. This also reminds me of that poster we saw years ago from the film I AM LEGEND.
Obviously no details yet. The announcement alone is big enough. This'll probably be the talk of the town for a good week or so. To add more brevity to the announcement, Zack Snyder had this soundbite featuring the voice of the guy who played General Swanwick in "MAN OF STEEL".

Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures have unleashed the new one-sheet art for the new action adventure “300: Rise of an Empire,” the prequel to the 2006 blockbuster, “300.”

New Poster for Sin City A Dame to Kill For Featuring Eva Green
While busy promoting the upcoming 300: Rise of an Empire, Eva Green is also the centerpiece for the poster for Robert Rodriguez's Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.
Synopsis:It was another dark night in Basin City when lovers Dwight and Ava Lord were reunited. But in Sin City, a reunion is never good news. And Ava has plans for Dwight…
It’s one of those hot nights, dry and windless. The kind that makes people do sweaty, secret things. Dwight’s thinking of all the ways he’s screwed up and what he’d give for one clear chance to wipe the slate clean, to dig his way out of the numb gray hell that is his life. And he’d give anything. Just to cut loose. Just to feel the fire. One more time.
One additional news for this film, it looks like they found a new Manute for the sequel:

First Look at 300: Rise of an Empire
The sequel to 300 entitled 300: Rise of an Empire has released several photos as well as their logo. Here's what they look like.
The film stars Sullivan Stapleton as Themistocles whom, just like King Leonidas, leads the battle against invading Persian armies led by god-king Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro).

Josh Brolin is Dwight in First Look for Sin City 2
Josh Brolin looks tough-as-nails as Dwight in this first look at Sin City 2 aka Sin City: A Dame to Kill For
After seeing "Gangster Squad" I have no qualms about Brolin playing either a heroic, flawed cop or a noble felon. It totally works for him both ways. Luckily for him Sin City : A Dame to Kill For features both character archetypes.
If you missed out my review for Gangster Squad, you can read it HERE.

BATMAN: THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS Part II Review
DC Comics' Batman: The Dark Knight Returns Part II is for all thoughts a faithful and hardcore adaptation of the classic Frank Miller graphic novel of the same title.
This animated flick is pretty amazing. It actually stands on it's own regardless if you've read the Miller book or not. One of the best things I've seen here is the quality of the animation. Super impressive and super stylish. It's also an animation style that closely fits the panels and imagery that Frank Miller deliver back in the 80s.

Here's our very first image from the upcoming Batman The Dark Knight Returns Part 2.
If you haven't read the seminal hit book which was done by Frank Miller then you really should drop whatever you're doing and start reading it...
Also do check out part 1 which came out on September 25 of this year.

New Teaser Poster for Sin City 2, New Movie Title Also Released
A new teaser poster has been released for Sin City 2. This new teaser poster more than just teases but also provides the official title for the movie - Sin City - A Dame to Kill For.
Reports also indicate that majority of the film's original stars will be returning. But so far only Mickey Rourke (Marv) and Jessica Alba (Nancy) have actually signed to the project. No word whether Clive Owen (Dwight) nor his red Chuck Taylors will return.
