April is finally here and so is Marvel's latest event book "Avengers vs X-Men" which pits Earth's Mightiest Heroes against the Children of the Atom. This issue is written by Avengers writer Brian Michael Bendis with art by John Romita Jr.

Ms. Marvel and Thor show their Power
With a "mysterious object" crashing into New York City airspace, two of the Avengers' biggest hitters respond by averting further disaster. It's not a spoiler or anything but its pretty cool to see Ms. Marvel (soon to be the new Captain Marvel) and Thor doing their best to save people's lives and avoid further property damage.

The New Nova Makes his Presence Felt
take note however that this isn't the Richard Rider Nova Prime but rather a new character named Sam Alexander who was not only created for this new event but also made his appearance in Disney XD's new series "Ultimate Spider-Man".
If you're currently clueless as to where this new guy came from, you might want to pick up "Point One" as this was the new Nova's first appearance. Pretty cool as well since we get to see him fight against former Herald of Galactus Terrax and run away from the Phoenix Force.
Cyclops Training Hope Summers
Cyclops is also seen in # 1 training the mutant messiah Hope Summers. I've already stated that the characterization for Hope in recent times have annoyed me to bits and its certainly obvious that I actually like seeing Cyke blasting Hope with his patented optic blasts.
Hope Summers shows the Phoenix Force
Although ridden so hard, Hope manages to release another Phoenix raptor showing signs that she is indeed an omega level mutant.
Cyclops Blasting Captain America
Leave it to Cyclops for being too sensitive when it comes to the topic of Hope Summers. When Captain America informed him that the Avengers had to contain Hope before the arrival of the Phoenix Force, Cyke breaks out and lashes his optic blast at the super soldier.
Captain America Assembles the Avengers
with the first shot of the war already in place, Cap calls his troops to make sure that they get back to American shores with Hope Summers. Who does he assemble? Why its the stars of the 2012 Summer blockbuster film "Avengers" no less.
The X-Tinction Team to the rescue
The X-Tinction team rises to the occassion with Emma Frost picking up the teenaged messiah before things become messy on the shores of Utopia.
And this is cool why? Simply because we get to see John Romita Jr. drawing the Uncanny team as they are about to go to war against the Avengers.
The Avengers arrive in style
And the Avengers assemble in style. They came down from the clouds all armed to the teeth. Not to mention they also arrive riding a SHIELD helicarrier.
Hope Summers Conjures the Phoenix
perhaps the most intriguing panel for AvX # 1 isn't the battles but rather the last panel which showed Hope and her eyes (complete with phoenix force to boot.) Does this mean that Hope is already tapping in to the P.F. without her knowing about it?
Also I've read an engrossing theory online that it could be that Hope has already made contact with the Phoenix Force of the future and that this could be reason why the phoenix force of the present is racing towards Earth. To connect with its future self.
