SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN #16
DAN SLOTT (W) • HUMBERTO RAMOS (A/C)
“Run, Goblin, Run!” Part 2 of 2
• How has the Hobgoblin evaded the Superior Spider-Man for so long? And does that hold the key to the Superior Spider-Man’s greatest success -- or greatest failure? It’s the end of the line for Hobgoblin, and possibly an end for a big chapter in the history of Spider-Man.
So are we going to see the end of Phil Urich. I'm calling it now. Yes. Given the way the Superior story is going, the formerly good guy Urich will be another body piled up in Otto Octavius' bid to become a Superior Spider-Man.
What irks me about this is that it could've made for a more satisfying storyline had it been Peter Parker driving and not Dr. Octopus. Still it's pretty interesting to read stuff like this. Also if you haven't noticed, Superior's been running parallels with the Batman story arc "Knighfall" where Bruce Wayne had to give up the mantle for a slightly villainous replacement in Jean Paul-Valley.
It kinda sucked that Urich didn't get to shine. He really was a potentially strong 'arch-enemy' for Slott's run particularly when Amazing Spider-Man moved from Brand New Day to Big Time and all the subsequent storylines.
Verdict: I think they will kill him off.
