Torture, Death and New Gameplay Mechanics for Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain's Red Band Trailer

The redband trailer for Konami's Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain has been released and it's equal parts gory and disturbing and then amazing and superb.

A word of warning, there's lots of violence and gore here. Yes, gore as in intestines kinda gore. Be wary.

If you're wondering who was the person getting ripped apart, that's Paz from Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker. It looks like you have to rewatch the trailer for Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes, it's actually there that old Ghost Face announces the insertion of Paz and her imminent betrayal. 

Also I smell new sex symbol for this series - the sniper codenamed "Quiet"

Then there's also a kid who really resembles Liquid Snake, or that could also be Solidus. The biggest shocker here is the number of lost limbs for the main characters. Kazuhira Miller for example gets an arm and a leg chopped up prior to his rescue.

Of course we also know that Snake, who will be voiced by Kiefer Sutherland instead of David Hayer will also experience a similar ordeal... 

Although Sutherland appearing as Snake is an even bigger shocker in my book. 

Then there's the new mechanics implemented plus the sandbox gameplay both of which will hopefully inject new life to Hideo Kojima's massively popular game. The video featured Snake riding a horse ala Red Dead Redemption then switching to a jeep then a truck at that specific order. On horseback, Punished Snake can hide on either side of the horse to avoid detection which was a really cool add-on. 

Overall, I'm going to say that I do like what Kojima and Konami is shaping the Metal Gear Solid franchise. Who knows, maybe Metal Gear Solid 6 could be the Metal Gear remake we've all been wishing for.
