Tom Cruise's "Edge of Tomorrow" Reveals Teaser Trailer

Oscar® nominee Tom Cruise (the “Mission: Impossible” films, “Jerry Maguire”) and Emily Blunt (“The Devil Wears Prada,” “Looper”) star in Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Village Roadshow Pictures’ sci-fi thriller “Edge of Tomorrow,” under the direction of Doug Liman (“The Bourne Identity,” “Mr. & Mrs. Smith”).

The epic action of “Edge of Tomorrow” unfolds in a near future in which an alien race has hit the Earth in an unrelenting assault, unbeatable by any military unit in the world.

Major William Cage (Cruise) is an officer who has never seen a day of combat when he is unceremoniously dropped into what amounts to a suicide mission. Killed within minutes, Cage now finds himself inexplicably thrown into a time loop—forcing him to live out the same brutal combat over and over, fighting and dying again…and again.

But with each battle, Cage becomes able to engage the adversaries with increasing skill, alongside Special Forces warrior Rita Vrataski (Blunt). And, as Cage and Rita take the fight to the aliens, each repeated encounter gets them one step closer to defeating the enemy.

The international cast also includes Bill Paxton (“Aliens,” “2 Guns”), Kick Gurry (Australian TV’s “Tangle”), Dragomir Mrsic (“Snabba Cash II”), Charlotte Riley (“World Without End”), Jonas Armstrong (BBC TV’s “Robin Hood”), and Franz Drameh (“Attack the Block”).

Liman is directing “Edge of Tomorrow” from a screenplay by Christopher McQuarrie and Jez Butterworth & John-Henry Butterworth, based on the acclaimed novel All You Need is Kill by Hiroshi Sakurazaka. Erwin Stoff produces, along with Tom Lassally, Jason Hoffs, Gregory Jacobs and Jeffrey Silver. The executive producers are Doug Liman, Dave Bartis, Joby Harold, Hidemi Fukuhara, and Bruce Berman, with Kim Winther and Tim Lewis serving as co-producers.

The behind-the-scenes team includes Academy Award®-winning director of photography Dion Beebe (“Memoirs of a Geisha”), production designer Oliver Scholl (“Jumper,” “Independence Day”), editor James Herbert (“Sherlock Holmes,” “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows”), costume designer Kate Hawley (upcoming “Pacific Rim”), and Oscar®-nominated visual effects supervisor Nick Davis (“The Dark Knight”).

“Edge of Tomorrow” is the first motion picture to be shot at the recently christened Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden.

Warner Bros and Tom Cruise to Adapt Another Manga Yukikaze

ANN reports that Wrath of the Titans writer Dan Mazeau has been tapped to pen an adaptation of the series YUKIKAZE. The film will be released by Warner Bros. and will reportedly star Tom Cruise.

Kambayashi wrote the original Sentō Yōsei Yukikaze novel in 1984 and Good Luck Sentō Yōsei Yukikaze in 1999. Kanbayashi revised part of his original novel to flow better with its followup, and Hayakawa Publishing released the revised version under the name Sentō Yōsei Yukikaze Kai in 2002. The attendees of the Japan Science Fiction Convention gave Seiun Awards to both novels. Hayakawa published a third novel, Unbroken Arrow: Sentō Yōsei Yukikaze, in 2009."

So think TOP GUN minus Val Kilmer and that volleyball scene mixed with War of the Worlds and Cruise's new movie Edge of Tomorrow.

Tom Cruise's All You Need is Kill Renamed Edge of Tomorrow and Gets New Poster

Been wondering what happened to the live-action, Western adaptation of the manga "All You Need is Kill" as it suddenly dropped off the grid. Apparently it's back with a new name and a pretty interesting poster as well coming from SDCC 2013.

The movie is now being called "Edge of Tomorrow" and will still star Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt.

Seriously what is up with Tom Cruise movies and their titles? I mean, OBLIVION? EDGE OF TOMORROW? I smell Scientology at work here.

If I'm not mistaken this will be distributed locally by Warner Bros. Pictures.

Oblivion Review

Oblivion is a good movie with well-used special effects and packs a punch with it's non-linear storytelling but there's still something off with my review of the movie starring Tom Cruise, Morgan Freeman, Olga Kurylenko, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau.

Real Action Heroes 1/6th Scale Ethan Hunt Figure Coming Soon from Medicom

Medicom is giving Tom Cruise fans what they've been clamoring, an action figure featuring the scientology fueled actor. The 1/6th Scale RAH (Real Action Heroes) figure is based on Cruise's Ethan Hunt in Brad Bird's "Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol".

First Trailer for Tom Cruise's Oblivion

Here's the new trailer for Tom Cruise's new flick "Oblivion" from United International Pictures.

So here's my initial reaction:

- First scene reminded me of the classic "A Boy and his Dog", which was cool in it's own way.
- Why does it have this "I Am Legend" vibe to it; being that he's got this imagery of being the Last Man on Earth. 
- They have Morgan Freeman who channels his best Morpheus interpretation with the circular shades and all that.

- It also has the vibe of the Mass Effect series (yes even the horrible Mass Effect 3).
- Sadly no sign of Tom Cruise running anywhere in this trailer.
- OLGA KURYLENKO'S IN IT!
- There's also some semblance of Wall-E in this movie since they're on repair and cleanup duty.

Between this and Cruise's other flick "All You Need is Kill" we'll have a scientology science-fiction fueled Tom Cruise marathon!

First Look at Tom Cruise's All You Need is Kill

This is Tom Cruise running for his life in his trademark Tom Cruise run no less for the movie "All You Need is Kill". 

The story unfolds in a near future in which a hive-like alien race, called Mimics, have hit the Earth in an unrelenting assault, shredding great cities to rubble and leaving millions of human casualties in their wake. No army in the world can match the speed, brutality or seeming prescience of the weaponized Mimic fighters or their telepathic commanders. But now the world’s armies have joined forces for a last stand offensive against the alien horde, with no second chances.

All You Need is Kill with Tom Cruise to Be Released March 14 2014

The upcoming epic sci-fi thriller, starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt and based on the book All You Need is Kill, will open on March 14, 2014, from Warner Bros. Pictures, Legendary Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures. The announcement was made by Dan Fellman, President of Domestic Distribution, and Veronika Kwan Vandenberg, President of International Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures.

Being directed by Doug Liman, the film is the first motion picture to be shot at the recently christened Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, and began principal photography October 1.

MOVIE REVIEW: Rock of Ages

Rock and Roll will always live forever!

Warner Bros. brings a classic broadway musical to the big screen with some heavy hitting names like Tom Cruise who plays the role of rock star Stacie Jaxx as well Catherine Zeta Jones and Alec Baldwin just to name a few.

While the film shares a LOT of elements there were some things from the play that was dropped and some elements that were rehashed or changed. I won't call it a bad thing, more of a surprise. (Yes I'm guilty of reading the wikipedia entry for the ROA Broadway version).

Anyway both the film and the play was based on a book written by Chris D'Arienzo which revolved around 80's fashion and music and the overall trend during that decade. There's a variety of colorful characters we get to meet during the first act of the film but the main characters are Sherrie (a small town girl) and Drew (just a city boy) who meet and fall in love.

I really don't want to spoil too much about the plot both to preserve the excitement and at the same time to make you realize that you want to watch the movie. Here's what I can safely say about the revised plot for the movie (supposing you've already seen the play); you can expect at least 85% of the story intact. The remaining 15% gets chucked to provide a "feel good" ending which actually works.

Tom Cruise Will Rock Your World in "Rock of Ages"

Tom Cruise, one of filmdom's brightest superstars, plays the fictional Stacee Jaxx, one of music’s biggest stars, in New Line Cinema's epic musical “Rock of Ages.”

In the film, Stacee Jaxx is the rock god that every guy wants to be and that every woman wants to bed. The lead singer of Arsenal, Stacee is at a turning point in his career, and in his life. He’s about to go solo, and his final show with the band is at The Bourbon Room. It’s a homecoming of sorts, as he played his first gig there back in the day. But fame and fortune may have come too easily to the front man who, after years of indulgence, has become boozed up and blasé to the point of bored, and less than reliable when it comes to showing up for his own shows.

The casting of Stacee Jaxx turned out to be somewhat serendipitous. “I was thinking to myself, ‘Wouldn’t it be cool if we got one of the biggest movie stars in the world to play one of the biggest rock stars in the world?’” Shankman reflects. “And, as luck would have it, I ran into Tom Cruise, told him I was directing this movie, that it was a musical, and that I was going to offer him this part. He said, ‘Are you serious?’ I said I was. Then I described Stacee to him and he laughed really hard. The next thing I knew, he was in, and I was making a musical with Tom Cruise.”

What is Warner's ROCK OF AGES?

Press Release - Hollywood’s famed Sunset Strip, 1987. Rockers wail and heads bang inside the packed and pulsating walls of a rock ‘n’ roll institution, The Bourbon Room. Heart strings are plucked and electric guitar sparks fly to the beat of some of the greatest hits of the `80s…the “Rock of Ages.”

The Broadway hit now goes from stage to screen with Warner Bros.' epic musical “Rock of Ages” under the direction of Adam Shankman (“Hairspray”). Shankman, who grew up in Los Angeles, felt right at home in the setting. “My dad was a music business manager, and his office was on the Strip,” he says. “I knew a lot of artists. I was choreographing music videos in 1987 and it was a world that I really understood and loved, so turning back that clock was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up.”

At the core of the film is a boy-meets-girl love story woven into classic, only-in-Hollywood dreams of fame. Shankman’s sister and producing partner, Jennifer Gibgot, elaborates, “Like so many people in L.A., the young lovers in ‘Rock of Ages’ have come here hoping to make it big and thinking it’s going to be easy. But it turns out to be a lot harder to stay on the path, to keep believing in the thing that led them there in the first place.”

Julianne Hough and Diego Boneta portray the young couple with stars in their eyes at the center of the story. They are joined by an all-star cast that includes Alec Baldwin, Russell Brand, Paul Giamatti, Mary J. Blige, Malin Akerman and Catherine Zeta-Jones. And playing the rock god of “Rock of Ages,” Arsenal lead singer Stacee Jaxx, is Tom Cruise.

For Shankman, the journey began when he went to see “Rock of Ages” on the stage. He recalls, “The audience was having the best time I’d ever seen at a show. Everybody knew the lyrics to all the songs and was out of their seats and singing along and having the time of their life. That enthusiasm, that sheer emotion, convinced me to make the movie.”

It wasn’t his only reason for revisiting the era, however. “I thought it would be an interesting challenge to make a movie musical that guys would drag their girlfriends to for a change.”

Shankman’s “Rock of Ages” is based on the Broadway smash, which earned five Tony Award nominations and is still entertaining audiences on the Great White Way as well as in touring productions around the world. The show’s book was written by Chris D’Arienzo, who is also a writer and executive producer on the film.

The story, about pursuing your heart’s desire, is backed by incredible songs and set on the iconic Sunset Strip, a place emblematic of the time, a place where fantasies could become reality, and did. Where a band from nowhere could perform at the Whiskey or The Roxy and wind up with a record deal.

Writer Justin Theroux enjoyed working on the screenplay for the jukebox musical, an opportunity he describes as “a totally different experience. In a weird way, you write backwards from the point of view of the song. The song is always the emotional center for the characters in any given scene, so it’s fun to try to get them to that specific destination. The song does a lot of the emotional heavy lifting for you, but you have to build ramps up and down, to and from, that centerpiece.”

Writer Allan Loeb also took pleasure in fiddling around with the script’s musical moments. “At times there are two songs playing off each other, going back and forth between the different storylines, with a lot of intercutting, to enable the song to serve more than one set of characters,” he details. “So the challenge was to shuffle the story and the verses, while also allowing for the choreography, until everyone explodes into a mash-up of the songs’ choruses. That’s how they did it on stage and how we handled it in the screenplay, and it was great fun to write.”

Says Shankman, “What’s often the most difficult and compelling thing about a musical like ‘Rock of Ages’ is that half of a song is played as performance and the other half as dialogue or inner monologue. I think the writers did a great job of turning a terrific stage show into a real cinematic experience. I’d like to see the movie-going audiences jumping out of their seats just like the theater audience did, and I think this story and these characters and this rockin’ music, performed by our unexpected and unbelievably talented cast, just might get them on their feet.”
