PREVIEW: Captain America: The Winter Soldier Minimates

Art Asylum and MTV.com has released a completed look at the Marvel minimates for Captain America: The Winter Soldier and they look cool.

Here's the breakdown of the figures that'll come along with this wave:

» Stealth Uniform Captain America with Brock Rumlow
» Classic Captain America with Winter Soldier
» Black Widow with Falcon
» Agent Sitwell with Batroc

I'm actually quite happy that they didn't go for the masked identities right off bat. Frank Grillo's Crossbones isn't even tagged as his supervillain alias but rather as his civilian name Brock Rumlow. Also I like how they managed to make Georges St. Pierre a bad ass (as Batroc) without having the ridiculous moustache and the weird mask/ google.

And yes it looks like I'll be spending money on minimates this year than any other year. And I won't be doing business locally (as there's now a voracious amount of 'collectors'). I figure I'll probably go and make House of Flair rich this year.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier opens April 4 from Walt Disney Studios and Columbia Pictures.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier Superbowl Trailer

Marvel Studios has a sure winner this year with the release of the second trailer for the film "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" starring Chris Evans as Steve Rogers/ Captain America.

SYNOPSIS: After the cataclysmic events in New York with The Avengers, Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” finds Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, living quietly in Washington, D.C. and trying to adjust to the modern world. But when a S.H.I.E.L.D. colleague comes under attack, Steve becomes embroiled in a web of intrigue that threatens to put the world at risk. Joining forces with the Black Widow, Captain America struggles to expose the ever-widening conspiracy while fighting off professional assassins sent to silence him at every turn. When the full scope of the villainous plot is revealed, Captain America and the Black Widow enlist the help of a new ally, the Falcon. However, they soon find themselves up against an unexpected and formidable enemy—the Winter Soldier.

The film also stars Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, Robert Redford, Sebastian Stan, Frank Grillo and more. This will be released April 2014 by Walt Disney Studios Philippines.

Empire has Captain America: The Winter Soldier in it's Cover

Empire Magazine must be feeling really proud what with the reveal of who they have on the cover of their next issue. It's none other than Marvel Studios' next superhero flick - Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

The film will be coming out next year and will star Chris Evans who reprises his role as Captain America together with fellow Avenger Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow) with Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes aka The Winter Soldier and Anthony Mackie who plays Sam Wilson aka The Falcon.

Toys R Us Marvel Minimates Wave Series 17 Preview

My golly look at the size of that Hulk minimate figure. And it's not even the Hulk that we know, rather it's a robotic version of the Green goliath.

Of course this will not only make me NOT want to quit, this will also make me NOT want to sell my collection.

Look at the ecclectic set on this wave:

1. Superior Spider-Man version 2 and Ultimate Electro

2. Pepper Potts in Rescue armor + Robot Hulk

3. Sam Alexander Nova + Alien Symbiote Venom

4. Marvel Now Hawkeye + Marvel Now Black Widow

(But if there's really anything that I'd like to get, it has to be this one pack)

What's on the back?

So for the first time, we've got a bulky character being pegged as the 'army-builder'. Impressive.

Here's what they look like outside of their respective boxes/ containers.

These badboys come out end of the year.

NYCC 2013 - New Titles for MARVEL NOW

Here's a list of brand new titles plus some relaunched titles from Marvel as revealed in the various panels in New York Comic Con.

SILVER SURFER

This one has Dan Slott writing and Mike Allred doing the art. He has a new female buddy along for the ride and a new mission statement.

**People are pissed off at the pairing of Allred and Slott. I don't see any reason why they should hate Allred and the Surfer.**

ALL NEW GHOST RIDER

Book will be officially called "ALL NEW GHOST RIDER" and will feature new protagonist "Robbie Reyes, a quiet 18-year-old East Angelino with a short fuse, a passion for electronic music and a nearly unhealthy infatuation with absolutely anything powered by an engine." The kicker? The new GR will be riding in a supercharger rather than a chopper. Felipe Smih writes, Tradd Moore draws.

ALL NEW X-FACTOR

There's a new team sponsored by Serval Industries and it includes Gambit this time together with Quicksilver and Polaris. The bigger question that writer Peter David and Carmine Di Giandomenico asks is whether Serval is trustworthy enough.

BLACK WIDOW

In the vein of other spy-thriller Marvel books, Natasha will be doing covert ops missions around the world. Written by Nathan Edmondson and gorgeous art by Phil Noto.

IRON PATRIOT

Another book spinning off from IRON MAN 3 with ties to Dark Reign. Ales Kot writes a very morally upright James Rhodes in this new book with artist Garry Brown. It's basically Iron Man 3's Rhodey given a comic book (much like Loki: Agent of Asgard).

AVENGERS UNDERCOVER # 1

Dennis Hopeless and Kev Walker tells the next story about the surviving teens of Avengers Arena. This time they need to infiltrate the Masters of Evil. Not so interesting.

AVENGERS WORLD # 1

Marvel Comics wants to really rob us blind by producing ANOTHER (blergh) Avengers book. This one will be written by Jonathan Hickman and Nick Spencer with art by Stefano Caselli. Tch. Given the caliber of the creative team I'm good but not really happy.

NEW WARRIORS

Chris Yost and art by Marcus To brings together a new version of New Warriors led by Justice, Speedball and Nova. They also have an Atlantean, an Inhuman, a human, a demigod and Scarlet Spider.

CAPTAIN MARVEL # 1

Kelly Sue Decconick teams with David Lopez to bring us the further adventure of Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel.

New Captain America: The Winter Soldier Teaser Poster Already Out

Marvel Studios today released a new teaser poster for their it's upcoming film "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" which stars Chris Evans as the man in red, white and blue.

I like the appeal of a very worn out and very distraught looking shield. It's symbolic in so many levels for Steve Roger's life post-Avengers (aka Battle of New York) and post-thawing. The worn out shield could also mean him being worn out from all the bureaucracy around him. Like I said, that worn out shield is open to so many interpretation.

Official synopsis: Captain America: The Winter Soldier” will pick-up where “Marvel’s The Avengers” left off, as Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world and teams up with Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, to battle a powerful yet shadowy enemy in present-day Washington, D.C.

The film stars Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Cobie Smulders, Georges St-Pierre, Frank Grillo, Hayley Atwell, Toby Jones, Emily VanCamp, Maximiliano Hernández, Robert Redford, and Samuel L. Jackson.

Scarjo Smooching Chris Evans in the Set of Captain America: The Winter Soldier

There you have it, the answer as to whether or not Captain America goes for Emily VanCamp's Sharon Carter or moves on with Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow.

So not only will Captain America dump Peggy Carter who will be making an appearance in the movie, he'll also switch girlfriends from Sharon to Natasha.

I guess that means the end of Natasha's obsession over Clint Barton aka Hawkeye and the end of a potential love story between Black Widow and the Winter Soldier.

Too bad for Clint and the rest of us as we'll never get to see BUDAPEST the movie. At least he's still got some love from the Tumblr peeps as much as Loki's.

Or maybe their just pretending to be a couple to evade detection, that can't be ruled out. Anne Hathaway and Steve Carell did it in "Get Smart" so why not do the same here in Captain America 2.

New Captain America: The Winter Soldier Set Photos Hint Fight with Jasper Sitwell

Based on the new set photos from Captain America: The Winter Soldier it looks like there's animosity brewing between Captain America (Chris Evans), Black Widow (Scarlet Johansson) and Jasper Sitwell (Maximiliano Hernandez).

Honestly while ScarJo looked hot in 'The Avengers", she looks horrible as Black Widow for The Winter Soldier. Maybe we really should blame her stylist for this. If there was ever going to be a competition between which hairstyle fit her the most, I'd also go on record and say that it was hair back in Iron Man 2, where she played assistant to Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark.

More photos after the cut.

I tell you, there's really something off about Scarlett Johansson here. I just can't point my finger at what. Oh and before we lose track, why is she kicking Jasper Sitwell? Wasn't Sitwell (at least in the comic books) one of the good guys and one the more pronounced members of the S.H.I.E.L.D.?

More of Scarlett Johansson and Samuel L. Jackson on the Set of Captain America 2

Paparrazos were able to take a couple of photos of Samuel L. Jackson and Scarlett Johansson from the set of Marvel Studios' Captain America: The Winter Soldier starring Chris Evans as Steve Rogers/ Captain America.

Captain America and Black Widow Snapped at the set of Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson was seen in character as Captain America and Black Widow respectively in the set of 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier'.

And yes, it really looks like he's sporting the new Captain America costume that was revealed a few days ago. Then there was ScarJo who still looks pretty as the Black Widow; and again she's sporting a new hairdo for her appearance here in this new Marvel Studios picture.

How Did Black Widow Get Her Facial Injury in Age of Ultron - Avengers Assemble # 14AU

One of the mysteries during the opening moments of Age of Ultron was who or what did the damage on Black Widow's face? It never gets touched or mentioned in the main story though. Avengers Assemble #14 AU.

Spoilers after the cut...

So apparently, Natasha was in San Francisco when Ultron attacked (which is also where we find her during the start of the story). It's also here that her friend George goes crazy after Ultron hijacks his brain via the prosthetic arm that he got from Tony Stark. It's ultimately the hand that slashes Nat's face...

She later gets inside one of Nick Fury's not-so-secret bunker where she works allies herself with Moon Knight who was also in a mission when the attack happened.

She's in a really bad shape here.

Age of Ultron # 4 Spoilers

More death and drama in Age of Ultron. I swear this issue was good yet depressing. The book is written by Brian Michael Bendis with breakdowns done by Bryan Hitch.

Spoiler alert folks, check out the highlights after the cut...

Nick Fury Jr. is a Bastard - Secret Avengers # 1

If there's one thing that I thoroughly hated about Secret Avengers # 1 by Nick Spencer and Luke Ross, it's got to be Nick Fury Jr aka Marcus Johnson

Actually everything in this book is nice for me. There's a nice bit of mystery, some unwitting agents who eventually will outgrow their unwillingness. There's also a shadowy government agency that's pulling everybody's strings. There's also some interesting technology here in Secret Avengers # 1 but what really rubs me the wrong way here is Marcus Johnson.

Avengers # 1 - Welcome to Avengers World

Avengers # 1 is finally here and I must say that I am dumbfounded by how nice this new volume is thanks to the writing of Jonathan Hickman with the art of Jerome Opena.

And let me just say that I am totally impressed with how this is all coming through. I mean I was apprehensive at first especially since this is a new volume featuring the same old characters instead of new characters (more on that later).

So anyway the book is amazing. Hickman starts with the idea that floated around Bendis' last issue of Avengers (that the team should grow big to be able to effectively deal with the threats that come their way.) Iron Man and Captain America begin devising a new system which later gets nicknamed "Avengers World". Though we don't see anything at first related to this subplot, by the end you'll have a clear understanding of what Stark exactly meant the minute he roused Cap from his sleep.

Also wanted to commend Jerome Opena's work on this stunning issue.  Everything here that has been touched by the talented Jerome Opena turns to instant platinum. Even something as mundane and as boring as Captain America getting dressed for a new mission becomes cool under the dynamic pencils of Opena.

I totally dig the new take for Avengers and I'm already anxious to see how Hickman's other Avengers book "New Avengers" would tie up towards the whole Avengers franchise.

One other thing that I'm raving about right now for this week's Avengers is the use of the characters. Here we get to see the MCU Avengers working together (which I'm pretty sure was editorially mandated anyway). It's just really rare to see these guys go and fight heavy hitting threats like Ex Nihilo so you tend to go wow. Sadly though, they get their asses kicked which results in Cap calling in reserves like Cannonball and Sunspot, Wolverine and even newbies like the new Smasher and Hyperion from Squadron Supreme

Phasing Brood and Secret Affairs in A+X # 2

A lot of fun stuff and appealing concepts appeared in A+X # 2 by Chris Bachalo, Peter David and Mike Del Mundo.

In the first story, Chris Bachalo writes and pencils the tale of the two femme fatales for the X-Men and the Avengers: Black Widow and Rogue.

New Covers for Jonathan Hickman and Jerome Opena's Avengers # 1

Check out the cover for Avengers # 1 which will be written by Jonathan Hickman with art by Jerome Opena. The art for the cover however is done by Dustin Weaver who is also an excellent artist.

SPOILERS: AvX Vs # 3

Who won the matches for AvX Vs # 3 written by Jeph Loeb and Chris Yost with art by Ed McGuiness and Terry Dodson.

The first battle was quite the powerhouse fight. The Thing versus The Juggernaut/ Colossus.  Unfortunately for Benjamin J. Grimm, he gets clobbered outside the Blue Area of the Moon.

Scratched that, he wasn't clobbered, he got socked good with a powerful haymaker from Peter.
