Into the Wild and Bigger Adventure in Rio 2

Carlos Saldanha, who co-directed and directed the global blockbuster “Ice Age” movies had long wanted to write a love letter to his hometown of Rio. From his imagination came a story about a nerdy, highly domesticated bird who goes on the adventure of a lifetime in that wondrous city that produced the highly successful “Rio” movie released in April 2011 that became a worldwide smash with almost $500 million at the global box office.

Now, his lead characters Blu and Jewel voiced by Jesse Eisenberg and Anne Hathaway are back in “Rio 2” for a grandeur adventure into the wild with the Nigel the villain at their trail. To fully realize the scope and breadth of this magical world and its vivid characters, Saldanha brought together an all-star voice cast, led by Oscar® nominees Anne Hathaway and Jesse Eisenberg, Oscar and Grammy®-winner Jamie Foxx, acclaimed musical artist will.i.am, actor-musician Jemaine Clement, comedic actress Leslie Mann, actor Rodrigo Santoro (a Brazilian native), actor-comedian George Lopez, and funnyman Tracy Morgan.

The film’s macaw lovebirds Blu and Jewel (voiced by Jesse Eisenberg and Anne Hathaway) are now facing parenting issues whether to stay in the city or make a new nest in the jungle to raise their children. Along with their friends, “Rio 2” continues the grandeur of adventure as we see Blu and Jewel raise their children while unexpectedly meeting relatives in the wild and dodging dangers brought about by familiar and new set of villains.

Warner Bros. Pictures Philippines just sent out a link to the teaser trailer for Christopher Nolan's INTERSTELLAR.

Synopsis: Interstellar” brings to the screen a script based on the combination of an original idea by Christopher Nolan and an existing script by his brother, Jonathan Nolan. The new script chronicles the adventures of a group of explorers who make use of a newly discovered wormhole to surpass the limitations on human space travel and conquer the vast distances involved in an interstellar voyage.

Blu (Jesse Eisenberg) and Jewel (Anne Hathaway), the macaw lovebirds in the first “Rio” movie that hit it off with the world and sent the box-office flying high are back in “Rio 2” with the entire original cast and a new set of fine actors and musical talents.

“Rio 2” continues the grandeur of adventure as we see Blu and Jewel raise their children while unexpectedly meeting relatives in the wild and dodging dangers brought about by familiar and new set of villains. Together with their oddball company of friends, Blu and Jewel venture from the magical city of Rio De Janeiro the wild Amazon to raise their children. Along the way, they rediscover Jewel’s long-lost father Eduardo (voiced by Oscar nominee Andy Garcia) and all kinds of new friends and baddies set to rock the Amazon jungle with laughter and exciting adventure in 3D.

Facing new challenges in raising a family, Blu is once again uprooted from his comfort zone as he meets his father-in-law Eduardo in the Amazon who has obvious reservations on the domesticated Blu. Moreso, compounding the in-laws issue is Jewel’s suave ex-boyfriend Roberto (voiced by Bruno Mars) who stirs up Blu’s jealousy.

As if ruffled feathers are not enough, familiar and new fiends follow aiming to do some fowl damage on the clan. The conniving cockatoo Nigel (voiced by Clement) has now teamed up with a poisonous frog named Gabi (voiced by Christine Chenoweth) to spoil the party.

"So there's a big adventure to the Amazon," says Brazilian director and Carlos Saldanha. "It's very much a journey for Blu and Jewel's family. Feathers do get ruffled. Threats are very real, however, from the deadly Nigel, the sadistic sulphur-crested cockatoo. He's better and badder than ever. He's a delicious villain."

Filming Begins for Christopher Nolan Helmed INTERSTELLAR

Paramount Pictures, a division of Viacom, Inc., and Warner Bros. Pictures announced today that principal photography on “INTERSTELLAR” is officially underway in Alberta, Canada. The film will be released in IMAX® and 35mm theaters on November 7, 2014. Paramount Pictures will distribute domestically, Warner Bros. Pictures internationally (including the Philipines).

“Rio 2” brings back Blu, Jewel along with their three kids living the perfect domesticated life in that magical city. When free-spirited Jewel thought it best that time is ripe for their chicks to go into the wild – Amazon that is, Blu’s steady world began to shake. As Blu tries to fit in with his new neighbors, he worries he may lose Jewel and the kids to the call of the wild.

Three Storyboards for Proposed Spider-Man 4

Sam Raimi had already begun work on the fourth Spider-Man movie when Sony decided to do a revamp which ultimately led to Marc Webb's Amazing Spider-Man. That was that until today, Jefrey Henderson shared three interesting storyboards from the film. Here's what I got off of his website.

  

What in tarnation is that devilish loking thing that Spidey's swinging our way? For a movie that's supposed to feature John Malkovich as Adrian Toomes/ The Vulture and Anne Hathaway as Catwoman Black Cat there's not much to go on with.

20th Century Fox Announces Cast for RIO 2

Anne Hathaway, Jesse Eisenberg and the rest of the original gang are back in “Rio 2” for the follow-up of the 2011 animated hit “Rio” along with a flock of top actors and musical talents new to the franchise, as announced by Vanessa Morrison, president of 20th Century Fox Animation.

The film is now in production at Blue Sky Studios. Twentieth Century Fox's international rollout begins March 20, 2014, followed by its domestic release on April 11, 2014 (April 10 in Phils.).

Les Miserables Review - Don't Forget to Bring Some Tissue

Just got home from the SUCCESSFUL press screening of Les Miserables from Solar Entertainment and I'm making this the MOVIE OF THE MONTH.

And I mean success because the movie actually played this time not like what happened in Resorts World (I'm still sore with RW over that, but not with Solar just to be clear). 

So anyway before we wander away, here's a bit of history. The movie was based on a play which was based on the novel by French writer Victor Hugo. It's about life, liberty, freedom and spirituality and finding your strength no matter the odds. 

New Trailers for World War Z and Les Miserables

Two new trailers came out today that being the first trailer for World War Z and the international trailer for Les Miserables. 

This stars Brad Pitt and is based on the novel by Max Brooks. 

Brad Pitt plays a U.N. employee racing against time and fate as he travels the world trying to stop the outbreak of a deadly zombie pandemic, and his Plan B shingle is producing. Mireille Enos ("Big Love", "The Killing") plays his wife, a mother of two girls. Their co-stars include Eric West, Matthew Fox, David Morse, and James Badge Dale.

Things to Love About The Dark Knight Rises with Spoilers PART 1

MEGA SPOILERS on this post. Don't read this if you're just going to bitch about being SPOILED.

So for this living under a rock "The Dark Knight Rises" is the third installment in the new Batman film franchise. It's directed by Christopher Nolan and stars a bevy of Hollywood heavyhitters like Christian Bale, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman and now includes Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon Levitt and Marion Cotillard.

The Dark Knight Rises Advance Review

Did "The Dark Knight Rises" deliver what was hyped to be a good, solid and "realistic" Batman story from director Christopher Nolan? Read on to find out about all the good stuff from the film from Warner Bros.

Okay I'll try to avoid major spoilers as much as I can but to really produce a good review, one needs to often times touch the sacred "spoiler" grounds. But I'll tread carefully.

New FAN MADE The Dark Knight Rises Posters Prominently Feature the Bat

People are really starting to talk about Batman's new ride known as "the Bat" since the arrival of the new clip; I've held judgment on this ride but not that it gets prominently featured in this new batch of posters (UNOFFICIAL BY THE WAY AS WHAT MY FRIENDS FROM WARNER IS SAYING - READ FAN MADE), I'm definitely thinking that it was a cool trade off for those old Tumblers.

The beautiful Anne Hathaway sings in this new teaser trailer for "Les Miserables" where she plays the doomed single mom Fatine.

Believe it or not, Victor Hugo's "Les Miserables" pretty much sealed the deal for me to become a writer. This was the last heavy drama stuff that I read in high school before graduation. Call it serendipity that this was also started by watching the live-action movie starring Liam Neeson, Gary Oldman and Uma Thurman. Sadly that version did not have any song. Just straight drama.

Before gearing away from the main topic, here's the teaser trailer for Les Miserables with Hathaway singing "I Dreamed a Dream".



From the star power alone this movie looks EPIC. You've got guys like Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Amanda Seyfried, plus Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter and Sacha Baron Cohen.

Plus we don't have to wait much longer since it has a December 2012 release date.

Warner Bros. Reveals New The Dark Knight Rises Posters

Warner Bros. has just unleashed three character banners for Christopher Nolan's “The Dark Knight Rises.”

The banners individually feature Batman, Catwoman and Bane in what the studio calls “Rain” series. Another series dubbed as “Snow” is set to follow.

Leading an all-star international cast, Oscar® winner Christian Bale again plays the dual role of Bruce Wayne/Batman. The film also stars Anne Hathaway, as Selina Kyle; Tom Hardy, as Bane; Oscar® winner Marion Cotillard as Miranda Tate; and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, as John Blake.

Returning to the main cast, Oscar® winner Michael Caine plays Alfred; Gary Oldman is Commissioner Gordon; and Oscar® winner Morgan Freeman reprises the role of Lucius Fox.

The screenplay is written by Christopher Nolan and Jonathan Nolan, story by Christopher Nolan & David S. Goyer.
