Inhumanity # 1 Preview

Suddenly I had this urge to share this preview for Marvel Comics' INHUMANITY # 1 written by Matt Fraction with beautiful art by Olivier Coipel.

I wonder why the Avengers would send in Bruce Banner first to talk to the inhuman Karnak whose power is to see his target's weakness. Beats me. Still much appreciated that they posted the unlettered version. This'd really spoil the ending of Infinity if this had letters on it.

MARVEL NOW 2 Officially Announced with Avengers, Inhumans and Invaders

Marvel Comics has just released their opening salvo for the second wave of Marvel Now titles coming our way starting December. These include familiar faces with new creative teams. 

So yes, James Robinson has jumped aboard the Marvel ship and I'm really hoping he kicks ass with this new title featuring unlikely allies Captain America, the Original Human Torch (Jim Hammond), Bucky Barnes aka Winter Soldier and Namor.

Then there's also AVENGERS # 24 which kicks off a brand new story arc entitled ROGUE PLANET which sees Cap and Iron Man creating a new Avengers team to stop a runaway train-esque planet from colliding with Earth. Even awesome is the fact that they have Esad Ribic as artist.

Finally, the most obvious title that will be coming out for the second wave of Marvel Now titles, INHUMANS by Matt Fraction and Joe Madureira. Guess we have to track down INFINITY closely to understand the story.

Oh and let's not forget about the in-betweener book INHUMANITY which just had it's first cover revealed a few days ago.

Marvel Comics Teases Joe Madureira art for Inhuman

Marvel teases us with the cover for Matt Fraction's "Inhuman" done by Joe Madureira.

Accompanying text for the art: "It’s a chance to spray everybody with supersoldier serum and see what happens," Fraction told PopWatch of the premise, which finds the entire planet somehow exposed to the Inhumans' powers-granting Terrigen Mists. "Did you know that you had a king? Did you know that you had a secret genetic lineage? Oh, and by the way, now you have horns, and someone’s coming to kill you!"

Marvel Teases Inhumanity after Infinity

Infinity hasn't even started and Marvel is already gung-ho in showing what's in store for the 616 Marvel Universe when the dust settles between the Avengers, Thanos and the Builders. Enter Inhumanity:

It's a novel idea how they want to work this new 'overreaching' arc. It follows the principle of a banner like how Dark Reign spins off from the ending of Secret Invasion and Heroic Age started after the 'Big Three' reunion in Siege. 

And yet, if you read the first article that was published on EW's Popwatch, you'll understand that this is also a tie-in to the new "Inhumans" book which is written by Da Vinci's Demons writer Matt Fraction. 

Another thing that's interesting here is how they plan on homaging and skewering the classic "Earth X" storyline. It's like a 21st Century take on a legendary story.

Hawkeye # 11 Review

Hawkeye's dog known as Pizza Dog goes on a solo adventure in this issue written by Matt Fraction with David Aja.

Hawkeye's solo title has always been a consistently satisfying read. It's got a good amount of action, comedy and drama that'll give you your comic book fix for a month or so. And that's with the lead character Clint Barton and his foil/sidekick supporting cast Kate Bishop, who also goes under the name Hawkeye. It's an entertaining read month-in and month-out.

I was apprehensive about this "pizza dog" issue mainly because it can be quite difficult to tell a good story with very little text and less color (i.e. dogs are color blind). So imagine my surprise when I started reading Hawkeye # 11 and getting a pleasant surprise. The issue was superb. 

This ish basically gives us Lucky/ Arrow/ Pizza Dog's POV of his life in Barton's apartment and then it takes a life of its own and becomes a murder mystery of sort. It's like a really great episode of Scooby Doo and Scrappy Doo minus Shaggy.

Couple of things I want to note though. Its the lack of discernable dialogues that knocks down this issue from being perfect to almost perfect. Sure we get a hint of what Clint and Kate are talking about but it's not clear. Are we purposely being kept in the dark here or are the dialogues really not that important? 

Secondly, Aja's work here was awesome but it kinda floundered towards the end when Arrow is fighting the track suit gang (from issue # 1). It's kinda weird that they go from all fighting mode and the next we see them is they're having tea at one of the tenant's apartments. Kinda weird. That or maybe I just didn't understand the panelling.

Otherwise, this issue is a steal. Get it from your local LCS.

One Awesome Moment in Fantastic Four # 3

The Thing proves to us that he's still cool and likeable in this new issue of Fantastic Four written by Matt Fraction with art by Mark Bagley.

In this issue, the team of explore an uncharted world where Reed hopes to find something that's "unstable" which would match their 'unstable molecules'. Ben's got the feels and decides to stay behind as the rest of the family rocket towards the planet.

AvX Vs # 5 - Hawkeye Emulates Wolverine

Leinil Yu does this week's AvX VS # 5 and he gets to go crazy on marquee characters Hawkeye and Archangel.

Oh and the dialogue is written by Matt Fraction who also does the ongoing Hawkeye book (which was an entertaining read last month).

New Covers for Fantastic Four, FF, Indestructible Hulk and Deadpool

... and they're all in # 1 form nonetheless.

Indestructible Hulk # 1 will be written by Mark Waid with art by Filipino pride Leinil Yu. This is pretty interesting especially since we're seeing something familiar and strange for this "new" Hulk.

Two Moments from Hawkeye # 1

This week's Hawkeye # 1 was surprisingly the best book this week. It's the best in terms of art together with storytelling. Here are the two best moments from the said book.

The Mighty Thor # 17 Bids Goodbye to Don Blake

I loved the duality of Thor and Donald Blake especially during JMS and Olivier Coipel's run on "Thor". "The Mighty Thor" however reverted the old split personality role back to making Thor his own man again.

Avengers vs X-Men # 5 - Five Mutants Become the Phoenix

Marvel wasn't kidding when they showed the cover for AvX # 5 featuring three central characters becoming a host for the Phoenix.

We left the AvX # 4 with a handful of X-Men and Avengers getting ready for another battle with Hope Summers and Wolverine getting caught in the middle.

This time its all out war in the blue area of the moon with the fate of young Hope and the rest of the world in the balance. Meanwhile Iron Man and Giant Man work on a new armor that might turn help slow down the Phoenix's descent to Earth.

I loved that the book still showed a lot of gorgeous battles while at the same time moving the story nicely along. See what I mean? Don't let Bendis write the book if you don't want a book filled with talking heads and a dragging pace.

Invincible Iron Man # 513 Spoilers - Iron Man's Rogues Get Repulsor Upgrades

The Phoenix Could Return with New It's Coming Teaser

Marvel Comics has revealed a new teaser featuring a fiery background very similar to how Jean Grey and the Phoenix has been drawn in the past few years.

There's really no detail regarding this teaser but rumor has it that it would be a project that would involve all the Marvel Architects together with the best artists in Marvel's stable including Olivier Coipel, John Romita Jr. and Adam Kubert.
