Heart Evangelista Makes Us Want to Vote for her Boyfriend

Esquire's cover features a slightly 'shopped Heart Evangelista in the cover with a tanktop with the words "Vote".

I really don't see any reason why they had to shop Ms. Evangelista any further as she looks beautiful on her own.

As my sister pointed out, her appearing in a men's magazine is also as timely as can be especially since her dear boyfriend, Senator Chiz Escudero is currently running for a seat at the Philippine senate. I'm betting that if Sen. Chiz wins, he's going to have to thank Heart for parts of it.

Things are really looking up for May as we have Ryza Cenon for FHM and Heart for Esquire. Wonder what Playboy Philippines is cooking up for their May issue.

Kenneth Rocafort's Design for New 52 Power Girl

Here's Superman artist Kenneth Rocafort's take on Superman's cousin Power Girl still with the boob window intact.

Oh and if you haven't heard, Power Girl recently returned to her old costume in Supergirl # 19

If I have the time I'm going to do a quick comparison between the two. What I can say however is that the gold chain running across her chest was really important. Secondly, I'm starting to fixate on Power Girl these days. Why oh why?

More Robot and Kaiju Destruction for the New Pacific Rim Trailer

Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures kicks things up a notch with the new trailer for the Guillermo Del Torro helmed Pacific Rim starring Charlie Hunnam, Rinko Kikuchi, Idris Elba, Charlie Day and Ron Perlman.

The new trailer shows us the origins of the Kaijus, a more intact battle scene between the gigantic Jaegers and the Kaijus. This also features some neat underwater scenes and a closer look at the monstrous alien invaders from the sea. Anyway, enough talk check out the WonderCon trailer for Pacific Rim after the cut.

Marko Djurdjevic's Infinity Variant Cover Looks Like a Movie Poster

... and this movie poster features important key figures like main villain Thanos plus Inhuman leader Black Bolt together with heavy hitters from Earth's Mightiest Heroes, the Avengers.

If you've read the early scans from the FCBD issue of Marvel Comics' Infinity, you'll know that Thanos has sent his outrider to Earth with the hopes of finding something or someone. Knowing Thanos, this must be the Infinity gauntlet and the six infinity gems. Sadly though, the Illuminati broke the Infinity gems in Jonathan Hickman's New Avengers.

Daring and Sexy Ryza Cenon for FHM Philippines May 2013

Another Starstruck gal lands in the cover of FHM Philippines for the May 2013 issue and it's none other than Ryza Cenon.

She joins other Starstruck luminaries such as LJ Reyes, Jackie Rice, Iwa Moto,  Christine Reyes and Katrina Halili.

Uncanny Avengers # 10 Cover Revives Dead Mutants and Avengers as Horsemen

The Uncanny Avengers # 10 cover is quite a shocker and I'm surprised why people are not talking about this revival.

Dead Heroes and Villains
So here's where things get ruined and get better at the same time. According to rumors, these guys won't just be revived for the sake of shocks and scares for Rick Remender's Uncanny Avengers team. They'll be playing a significantly larger role as the new Horsemen of the Apocalypse (twins).

And in case you're not able to identify who these guys are, here's the breakdown from left to right:

Marvel Reveals X-Men: Battle of the Atom Crossover

With so many X-Men teams running around these days, it's bound to happen that they clash once more and it looks like we don't have to wait too long as Marvel Comics has revealed some details about the upcoming X-book crossover entitled "X-Men: Battle of the Atom".

The new book will begin with an # 1 book entitled "X-Men: Battle of the Atom # 1 which will feature art by Frank Cho. The story then travels to the existing X-books starting with Uncanny X-Men # 12 and # 13. The story then moves to All New X-Men # 16 - 17 followed by Wolverine and the X-Men # 36 - 37 climaxes with Brian Wood's X-Men # 5 -6 before ending with Battle of the Atom # 2.

So we've basically got all bases covered and just to make things interesting (or complicated) Marvel also revealed new characters from the future including:

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Reinvision by Malachi Maloney

Here's an interesting take on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles done by artist Malachi Maloney. It's pretty to look at and at the same time very different from the TMNT we all grew up with.

Raphael

Check out the rest of the tutles plus Master Splinter after the cut.

Michaelangelo

Donatello

Leonardo

I loved that Leo's a Samurai and Donatello is a buddhist monk. Both of them gives a solid reason why they wield their weapon of choice. Sadly, only Raphael really follows the actual namesake of being called a NINJA. All of them however follow the Oriental/ Eastern approach in their design and aesthetics.

Oh and before I forget, here's Master Splinter.

Sadly, Maloney forgot to give us a look at Shredder and the Foot Soldiers/ Foot Clansmen. :(

Superior Spider-Man Set for Collision Course with Spider-Man 2099

It's finally happened, Miguel O'Hara aka Spider-Man 2099 is set to meet Otto Octavius aka Superior Spider-Man in an upcoming story arc for the ongoing Superior Spider-Man.

Art by Olivier Coipel

During an interview with Comicbookresources, Dan Slott reveals that this meeting of two spiders will be entitled "Necessary Evil". The story sees Miguel O'Hara doing a Kyle Reese (from Terminator) going back to the past to change the future. Obviously Slott and his art partner for the art Ryan Stegman is keeping quiet with all the major plot points but they are stating that the seeds for Miguel O'Hara's trip to the past has been sown as early as the Amazing Spider-Man arc "Big Time".

In fact Slott admits that he made a mistake by writing something that shouldn't be written in Big Time, which of course, gets edited out and replaced with the release of the tradepaperback. The writer also reveals that this is going to be important as it once again reshapes the Spider-Man legacy and the entire Marvel Universe. One last thing, there's a certain Osborn that'll be returning to the fold.

Alodia Gosiengfiao as Lynn Minmay

Robotech / Macross fans should take a look at this amazing piece done by Jay Tablante featuring cosplayer Alodia Gosiengfiao as galactic songstress Lynn Minmay, protagonist Rick Hunter's main love interest.

Pretty impressive CG background for this shot. At the moment I'm actually wondering what the compositing process was for the elements here such as the backdrop and the exterior (I'm assuming this is only one part of the battleship that is the Super Fortress). Oh Alodia looks kawaii (as usual).

A Massive X-Men Reference Hidden in The Internship's New Trailer

20th Century Fox has released a new trailer for the comedy film "The Internship" starring Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn. It looks funny and it's even got a good X-Men reference that hardcore X-fans would recognize.

Here's the official press release from 20th Century Fox Philippines:

Looks like comedy duo and friends Owen and Vince have found a new thinking playground at the Google campus as featured in the upcoming hilarious movie “The Internship.”

In an interview with EW on his upcoming true-to-the-times relatable comedy “The Internship,” Vince Vaughn admits that there wouldn’t be any film had Google said no to the concept in the first place.

Vaughn, who serves as co-writer, producer and star of “The Internship” reunite with Owen Wilson about friends in their 40s who get laid off from their jobs. Convinced they’ve gone about managing their careers entirely wrong, they resolve to become interns at a tech company and start anew. Hijinks ensue when Vaughn and Wilson compete against
wily, fresh-faced 22-year-olds to advance in the company.

“The Internship” sees Nick (Owen Wilson) and Billy (Vince Vaughn), two old-school salesmen who use old fashioned charm and brilliant sales techniques to sell watches. On the night that they try to close a big sale with a client, to their shock, they find out that their company has been shut down because kids don’t wear watches anymore. Suddenly, they find themselves unemployed as two dinosaurs in the digital world.

To make the situation worse, Billy goes home to find a foreclosure sign on his front lawn and his girlfriend packing her bags to leave him. In the meantime, Nick’s sister offers him a job at a mattress store and he takes it out of despair. After an exhaustive job search online, Billy has Googled everything he can Google. He finally gives up by typing just “Google” into the search box, and finds an opportunity for them to reinvent themselves – with an internship program at Google.

The guys arrive at the Google Campus in Mountain View, California – a world away from anything they have seen before – and are in awe. All the food and drink is free so they load up on coffee and donuts at the “free” coffee cart as if it’s their last meal on earth. On the first day of their internship, they find themselves in a sea of tech-savvy 20-
year-olds who they need to compete against to win a full-time position at Google. They team up with Neha, a sexually curious nerd, Stuart, who is obsessed with his cell phone and won’t get off of it, Yoyo, a genius Asian kid that lacks social and common life skills, and Lyle, who is an underdog who wants to fit in. They also meet their nemesis – Graham – an arrogant and aggressive college student who will stops at nothing to win the competition and get the job at Google.

Vaughn wrote the original draft of the story when the US economy was in shambles and most of the people he knew had lost their jobs. It was that generational sentiment that the skills they have are not significant as it used to be. And when he saw a portion of what goes inside the Google ‘campus,’ “I thought of taking the characters to this place
and give them the chance to work at Google – that felt relatable and rootable,” shares Vaughn.

Google cofounder Sergey Bin checked on the film’s set every now and then which Vaughn is very grateful for – “Everyone at (Google) was very nice and gracious. But that’s what Google does: You search for something and you find it,” Vaughn concludes.

“The Internship” opens August 14 in theaters from 20th Century Fox to be distributed by Warner Bros.

At the last bit, as the man they bluntly refer to as Professor Xavier wheels away from them, Vince Vaughn shouts "Professor Xavier is a total" before it gets cut off. This is of course a throwback to that classic splash page featuring a then-rebellious Kitty Pryde...

Most Probably the Best Batman GIF You'll Ever See

Apparently this scene was screencapped and from that, this little scene was taken, and taken out of context.

And yes I've got the feels for Batman on this one. On a brighter note, this is better than that meme-ified panel of Batman slapping Robin:

Rule 63 Squall Leonheart Cosplay

I always wondered what Squall Leonheart would look like when he's following Rule 63. And now I get the answer through this cosplayer's interpretation of the famous Final Fantasy VIII hero heroine.

and if you're not down with this, she might pull a LIONHEART on ya.

DC Comics Reveal New 52 Version of Cyborg Superman

DC has revealed a new look for their infamous villain Cyborg Superman which has elements from the pre-New 52 character mixed with modern sensibilities and designs.

Truth be told, I kinda like this more than the pre-New 52 Hank Henshaw. The design plays with the Superman colors really well and while it looks Superman, a closer inspection reveals that it's a cyborg. There's also very pronounced alien tech here in this new Cyborg Superman. Did Kenneth Rocafort do this?

The New Pacific Rim Poster Asks Us to Go Big or Go Extinct Plus the Pinoy Jaeger

Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures has released yet another new poster for Guillermo Del Toro's "Pacific Rim" starring Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba and Rinko Kikuchi.

SYNOPSIS:When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes—a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)—who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

Also check out this potentially cool and hilarious Jaeger coming from the Philippines (I can assure it's very much fan-made).

Disney Launches New Monsters University Trailer

Disney/Pixar has just launched a brand new trailer of “Monsters University,” the highly anticipated prequel to the 2011 blockbuster, “Monsters, Inc.”

You may view the trailer here at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l79mEDBybqE&feature=youtu.be.

Synopsis: Ever since college-bound Mike Wazowski (voice of Billy Crystal) was a little monster, he has dreamed of becoming a Scarer—and he knows better than anyone that the best Scarers come from Monsters University (MU). But during his first semester at MU, Mike’s plans are derailed when he crosses paths with hotshot James P. Sullivan, “Sulley” (voice of John Goodman), a natural-born Scarer. The pair’s out-of-control competitive spirit gets them both kicked out of the University’s elite Scare Program. To make matters worse, they realize they will have to work together, along with an odd bunch of misfit monsters, if they ever hope to make things right.

IDW Plans to Kill Off a Long Time TMNT Supporting Character

Bleedingcool reports that as part of the ongoing story arc 'City Falls' a long time Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle character will be killed off.

Congratulations to Disney as Iron Man 3 Grosses P62.2 Million for its Opening

MANILA, April 25 – Tony Stark rewrote the record books, as Marvel's “Iron Man 3” debuted yesterday to a stunning P62.6-million – the biggest first-day gross ever in Philippine history, foreign or local film.

This was announced today by Victor R. Cabrera, Managing Director of Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Philippines, which distributed the movie. “`Iron Man 3' flew off the box office chart, soaring past the stratosphere to break the country's all-industry, all-time Opening Day records,” said Cabrera. “P62-M in one day is previously unheard of. What a boost to the industry!”

The third “Iron Man” installment surpassed the opening day record of “Spider-Man 3” at P58-million which was achieved on a May 1 Labor Day holiday back in 2007. “Iron Man 3” now also owns the biggest Wednesday gross ever in history, the biggest Marvel/Disney opening day ever, beating “Marvel's The Avenger's” record of P56-M last year.

The Real Score with Uncanny X-Men's Magik ~ Spoilers

It would seem like Ilyanna Rasputin of the Uncanny X-Men might have become more powerful after AvX but writer Brian Michael Bendis shows us that not all is well for the mutant teleporter and one-time queen of Limbo.

Spoilers for Uncanny X-Men # 5 after the cut...

Uncanny Avengers # 7 Spoiler Review

What just happened in Uncanny Avengers # 7 and how big could it's ramifications be? Check out the spoilers for Uncanny Avengers # 7 by Rick Remender and Daniel Acuña.

Spoiler alert on this post.

There's a couple of subplots here such as the brewing tension inside the team, the worsening cat fight between Rogue and Scarlet Witch and this...

The Wasp flirting with Havok
It's these kinds of moments in an Avengers book that makes me realize two things, that team romances are nice to enrich the book but it also heralds all the kinky and downright ***tty stuff that's appearing in books like 'The Boys' where all the heroes sleep around and do nasty stuff with each other.

Anyway, the main point of this issue is that the Apocalypse Twins have officially made their appearance in the present time after being whisked away by Kang the Conqueror a few issues ago. Not only are they all grown up and resemble their pappy Archangel, they also have Thor's old enchanted weapon Jarnbjorn, the same mystical axe that Kang raided from Baron Mordo's tomb in Uncanny Avengers # 6

Not only do they make their presence felt, Uriel Worthington even slices the Celestial Gardener in half in this ish.
This of course transpires moments after Genocide gets his hands on a new Death Seed which will power him up and assume the mantle of Apocalypse.

Genocide powered up with the Celestial Death Seed
And then, the former heir of Apocalypse gets cut down by Uriel...

I feel sorry for Genocide as this guy never catches a break. Between being promised to become the new Apocalypse and ultimately falling through the cracks at the end of Remender's Dark Angel Saga to this usurping his position, the guy never gets to enjoy, oh well, at least he was partly responsible for the creation of Tabula Rasa

Meanwhile the other twin, Eimin Worthington rescues their mother, the Final Horseman Pestilence and kills off the other ones such as Famine and War.

Eimin using Untime Acid on the horsemen
Has Remender been watching too much Naruto? as this is the specialty of the Uchiha especially in the advanced Mangekyou form. Tsukiyomi!

Some other things worth mentioning:

- Captain America and Sunfire are in space (in S.W.O.R.D's THE PEAK specifically) when the remnants of Apocalypse's ship appear. Shiro goes heroic mode by pushing Captain America into an escape pod and tries to make sense out of the madness.

- Thor disappears from the mansion and flies off to Rio de Janiero where he readies himself for the coming space debris. We also get a flashback of sorts with the words Odin left him back in issue 6.

Y'know I'm really running out of superlatives to describe Acuña's work here in UA. Now all I can say is that the art for this issue justifies why I try to buy all the back issues and present stuff the artist does whether. It's that good. Now if only I can find the Wolverine trade where he did the art.

Verdict: 4.5/5

It would have been better if the flirting scenes were done differently. Otherwise, excellent stuff. Even the things that are implied or happens off-panel were interesting enough.

Spoiler Heavy Iron Man 3 Review

The long wait is finally over as the third installment of the massively successful Iron Man film franchise from Marvel Studios and Walt Disney Studios has finally been released on our shores and boy does it deliver. Yes, Iron Man 3 is officially in our shores.

Iron Man 3 is directed by Shane Black who takes over the reigns from Jon Favreau who, on the other hand becomes the film's executive producer and reprises his role as Happy Hogan. The film still stars Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts and Don Cheadle as Col. Jim Rhodes aka War Machine

New additions to the cast include Guy Pearce as Aldrich Killian, Rebecca Hall as Maya Hansen and Ben Kingsley as The Mandarin

Now for the review. Oh and there might be a couple of spoilers here and there so be wary.

Bryan Singer Confirms Bishop and Warpath for X-Men: Days of Future Past

X-Men: Days of Future Past director Bryan Singer continues his tweet tease with a somewhat confirmation that mutants Bishop and Warpath (James Proudstar) will be joining the cast of the mega-flick. And in case you're not yet drooling, yes this is going to be 20th Century Fox's version of The Avengers only with mutants instead of repulsors and enchanted hammers.

Check out how Singer confirmed these two mutants' appearance in the next X-Men movie:

More of Scarlett Johansson and Samuel L. Jackson on the Set of Captain America 2

Paparrazos were able to take a couple of photos of Samuel L. Jackson and Scarlett Johansson from the set of Marvel Studios' Captain America: The Winter Soldier starring Chris Evans as Steve Rogers/ Captain America.

More photos after the cut.

Danny Boyle's Trance Review

Reviewing Danny Boyle's new movie Trance from 20th Century Fox starring James McAvoy, Rosario Dawson and Vincent Cassel.

So before the review itself, I'd like to thank the good folks at 20th Century Fox for the invite. Truly a great movie you've got. It's also a good break from all the Summer Blockbusters and superhero movies coming out. That being said, on to the review.

There's a lot of words in my head when you mention 'Trance' but for me, the words HYPNOTIC and MINDFUCK is the best way to describe the film in all it's entirety. You could also chuck in the word ART FILM for good measure. Yes, in my humble opinion this new offering from Boyle is that good.

Spoiler Heavy Discussion on Thor: The Dark World

The new trailer for Thor: The Dark World from Marvel Studios has been released and I'm looking to discuss the different scenes from the movie.

Be ready though as I'm going to relate the actual scenes from the trailer to the spoilery stuff that's already been released/ published/ shared months and weeks before today. If you don't want that maybe you can check out my recap/ highlight for Game of Thrones S3E3 instead. Highlight and screencaps after the cut.

Marvel Launches "Thor: The Dark World" Trailer

Marvel Studios has just unleashed the teaser trailer of “Thor: The Dark World” which can now be viewed at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kRXOzk18-AU.

Marvel’s "Thor: The Dark World" continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger (Chris Hemsworth) as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself.

Halle Berry Rocking a New Storm Costume for Days of Future Past

Actress Halle Berry was seen wearing a brand new costume for her role as the X-Man Storm for Bryan Singer's 'X-Men: Days of Future Past' which will be hitting theaters July 18, 2014.

So they're all ditching the hot black leather and going for a more traditional cloth costume akin to what they did for X-Men First Class. Also who says she doesn't look hot now that she's pregnant! She's still got it. Oh and we may never know how the studio would be able to pull off a Storm versus Sentinels scenario. This is Hollywood we're talking about.

Finally, my god, what did they do to her hair? She looks like a younger version of Dame Judy Dench from a far.

Who are the People in Marvel's Stark Seven?

Marvel Comics just released a new teaser for the upcoming 'Secret Origin' of Tony Stark over in Iron Man written by Kieron Gillen with art by Dale Eaglesham. This is what the teaser image looked like:

The issue will be out next month and features a rather eclectic cast of characters. I'm actually having a blast figuring out who these guys are and so far here's my list for Gillen's secret team.

Man of Steel Gets Empire Cover plus Never-Before-Seen Photos

The promotion for Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures' MAN OF STEEL is kicking into overdrive as we're seeing a barrage of different photos from various sources. The one below however takes the cake this week, two different covers for Empire featuring Superman and his Kryptonian nemesis General Zod.

More photos including the Empire cover featuring Zod after the cut.

Everything about the new Zod is menacing and intimidating, well everything except Michael Shannon's bowl cut.

Meanwhile check out the lo-res photos from Entertainment Weekly featuring Faora and much more.

This one I like mainly because of the pre-heat vision signature look

Man of Steel stars Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Antje Traue, Kevin Costner, Russell Crowe, Laurence Fishburne and more. It's directed by Zack Snyder and is produced by Christopher Nolan. Locally distributed by Warner Bros. Philippines and opens June 2013.
