Toys R Us Marvel Minimates Wave Series 17 Preview

My golly look at the size of that Hulk minimate figure. And it's not even the Hulk that we know, rather it's a robotic version of the Green goliath.

Of course this will not only make me NOT want to quit, this will also make me NOT want to sell my collection.

Look at the ecclectic set on this wave:

1. Superior Spider-Man version 2 and Ultimate Electro

2. Pepper Potts in Rescue armor + Robot Hulk

3. Sam Alexander Nova + Alien Symbiote Venom

4. Marvel Now Hawkeye + Marvel Now Black Widow

(But if there's really anything that I'd like to get, it has to be this one pack)

What's on the back?

So for the first time, we've got a bulky character being pegged as the 'army-builder'. Impressive.

Here's what they look like outside of their respective boxes/ containers.

These badboys come out end of the year.

An Infographic for Marvel Characters Connection

Ever wondered how many connections Spider-Man has to the Avengers before officially joining the team in New Avengers # 1 or which X-Man has the least ties to guys like Thor or The Incredible Hulk. This infographic might just provide the answers to your questions.

Note: The graphic is fricking huge and long. I was looking for a hi-res version but this is as hi-res as it can be given the time on my hands. Still it's an enjoyable piece of information.

Age of Ultron Teaser Features One Eyed Captain America

Nothing beats the usual spoilers that Marvel releases and we see in this new teaser for AGE OF ULTRON that it can still generate buzz.

So what's wrong with this picture.

We have a one-eyed Captain America and Cyclops. A female Captain Marvel (or is that Nova?) a new costume for Star Lord. A battle damaged Thing and a Hulk with half his body seemingly burned.

Oh and then if you look closely at Cap you'll see that he see's to have been scarred by three claws indicative of a brawl with Wolverine that went awry. Wolverine in this art by Brandon Peterson is sticking back to his old uniform. Cyclops follows his son Cable in the fashion sense with metallic arms and hands and brandishing a gun. He's also one eyed and also looks like he literally got burned. Dr. Strange also appears to be wearing his old uniform as well (which we all kind of miss).

In this week's Avengers # 3 we learn five valuable things in Jonathan Hickman's run on the book.

Let me indulge you on what they are after the cut.

Avengers # 1 - Welcome to Avengers World

Avengers # 1 is finally here and I must say that I am dumbfounded by how nice this new volume is thanks to the writing of Jonathan Hickman with the art of Jerome Opena.

And let me just say that I am totally impressed with how this is all coming through. I mean I was apprehensive at first especially since this is a new volume featuring the same old characters instead of new characters (more on that later).

So anyway the book is amazing. Hickman starts with the idea that floated around Bendis' last issue of Avengers (that the team should grow big to be able to effectively deal with the threats that come their way.) Iron Man and Captain America begin devising a new system which later gets nicknamed "Avengers World". Though we don't see anything at first related to this subplot, by the end you'll have a clear understanding of what Stark exactly meant the minute he roused Cap from his sleep.

Also wanted to commend Jerome Opena's work on this stunning issue.  Everything here that has been touched by the talented Jerome Opena turns to instant platinum. Even something as mundane and as boring as Captain America getting dressed for a new mission becomes cool under the dynamic pencils of Opena.

I totally dig the new take for Avengers and I'm already anxious to see how Hickman's other Avengers book "New Avengers" would tie up towards the whole Avengers franchise.

One other thing that I'm raving about right now for this week's Avengers is the use of the characters. Here we get to see the MCU Avengers working together (which I'm pretty sure was editorially mandated anyway). It's just really rare to see these guys go and fight heavy hitting threats like Ex Nihilo so you tend to go wow. Sadly though, they get their asses kicked which results in Cap calling in reserves like Cannonball and Sunspot, Wolverine and even newbies like the new Smasher and Hyperion from Squadron Supreme.

A Closer Look at the Hulk Through the Ages Minimates Set

Art Asylum and Diamond Select toys shares a better look at the upcoming "Hulk Through the Ages" minimates boxed set.

Here's the breakdown of the characters...

Indestructible Hulk # 1 Review

Got my hands on Indestructible Hulk # 1 by Mark Waid, Leinil Francis Yu Sunny Gho and Gerry Alanguilan.

A new direction for the Hulk is given in this new relaunched title featuring the badass art team behind Mark Millar's "Super Crooks" and the man responsible for making Daredevil cool and hip and significant.

In this new book, some things are still the same; Bruce Banner is still the Hulk and he's still bound to become very angry and smash things but the more interesting bit for me happens to be Bruce Banner himself.

This new 'Banner' is something more akin to Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner. He's grown to accept that the Hulk is a condition that needs to be checked once in awhile like cancer or diabetes. He's accepted that he will no longer be able to get rid of his big green counterpart and has started down a path towards redemption.

I liked the book because of the dialogue that Waid infuses the characters with; from Maria Hill's anxiety over her work schedule to Bruce Banner's wit and later his dedication to his new goal. The Hulk might not have any significant dialogue here but the frenetic action sequences are glorious and lets us remember that "actions speak louder than words".

Goals are something that gets played pretty well in this relaunched title. Banner wants to join his peers Tony Stark and Reed Richards in terms of developing technology but is unable to because his flat-ass broke. He strikes a deal with SHIELD on both ends. It's this kind of smart writing that got me hooked in the book.

The art team did an incredible job in this book like the boyband that they are they manage to kick some serious ass. First there's the sharp and dynamic pencils of Leinil followed by the sick inks of Gerry Alanguilan and then there's the really great colors provided by Sunny. Explosions and rubbles never looked as good as what they've managed to do here in issue number 1.

Of course I'd like to thank Comicx Hub for the support for this review.

The Funniest Thor - Hulk Moment from The Avengers in Minimates Form

Minimate Factory has shared a cool looking photo based in one of the funniest Hulk-Thor scenes from Marvel's The Avengers.

I really love this scene. Too bad we still don't have a great looking .gif of this scene during the final battle between The Avengers and The Chitauri.

Incredible Hulk #7.1 Spoilers - How Hulk Celebrated the Death of Banner

Spoilers for Incredible Hulk # 7.1 written by Jason Aaron with art by Jefte Palo (who I am looking forward on seeing in this book after the next arc Stay Angry).

incredible-hulk-7.1

The new issue picks up instantly after the supposed "death" of Bruce Banner. Rather than mourn for his death, the Hulk is rather apathetic about the whole thing and even shuns the sexual advances of his short-term ally Amanda Von Doom.

Von Doom orders the surveillance of the Hulk, who at the time starts enjoying his newfound freedom and does all sorts of cool things like swimming with a pod of killer whales...

He also:

- barbecues a great white shark
- Gets "sacrificed" by a tribe of cannibals
- rides a Triceratops into the sunset
- turns a volcano into his own private jacuzzi
