Detective Comics # 27 Spoilers - Gothopia Part 1

Mildly surprised how hooked I got after reading part one of Detective Comics # 27' featured crossover GOTHOPIA by John Layman and Jason Fabok.

So what happens is we basically a polished, pure and clean version of Gotham City where Batman is still defending it. Instead of getting boys for sidekicks, we have Catwoman by his side. Only Catwoman goes by the name "Catbird" which is WTF right?

They're even dating on the side...

Detective Comics (2011-) 027-054

Batman and Catwoman aren't alone in this brave new world. They also have Batgirl and Batwoman who've resorted to calling themselves Bluebelle and Brightbat.

bluebelle and brightbat gothopia

Talon (Calvin Rose) is The Gothamite, the Birds of Prey are the Wings of Truth and Luke Fox (the second Batwing) becomes the Flying Fox.

Detective Comics (2011-) 027-068

And not entirely spoilery but the Bat-family beats up Batman and sends him to this version of Arkham Asylum which is run by Jonathan Crane aka The Scarecrow.

Detective Comics (2011-) 027-071

Things are not looking good for Batman.

Forever Evil # 4 Spoiler - Who Joins Lex Luthor and Co.

There's a surprise addition to the Lex Luthor's gang of villains in Forever Evil and it's a pretty impressive addition if I may say so. So here we go, FOREVER EVIL # 4 Spoilers.

It begins with a foreshadowing during a conversation between Batman and Catwoman inside the Batcave.

Forever Evil (2013-) 004-004

Then Batman & Catwoman encounter Lex Luthor who are trying to break into a S.T.A.R. Labs compound to raid weapons.

Forever Evil (2013-) 004-016

Before exchanges of unpleasantries happen, a Power Ring-led hit squad enters the scene.

Forever Evil (2013-) 004-018

During the battle, Batman goes with the mantra "Fight Fire With Fire"

Forever Evil (2013-) 004-019

Forever Evil (2013-) 004-020

Yep for a brief period of time, Batman once again becomes a member of the Sinestro Corps. He sucks at ring-slinging though.

Forever Evil (2013-) 004-021

And then Sinestro officially enters the battle for Earth.

Forever Evil (2013-) 004-022

FOREVER EVIL # 4 is now available in your favorite LCS.

Detective Comics # 27 Not Available for Subscribers

DC Comics wont be making bat-fans happy BY NOT GIVING A COPY OF DETECTIVE COMICS # 27 TO SUBSCRIBERS.

Variant cover to 'Tec 27 by Greg Capullo

Yeah, you read that right, subscribers won't be getting Detective Comics # 27 and will be getting # 28. So that's basically skipping a month on an issue. Here's the letter that subscribers will be getting in the mail soon.

Here's the letter sent to a subscriber which somehow landed on the Facebook group The Reboot? wtf !! DC Comics Relaunch Group

To be fair with the publisher though, it is 96 pages of Batman done by a lot of big names in the industry including Bryan Hitch and even Frank Miller himself. It's 96 pages and costs roughly $8 so you can definitely see why they opted not to add this to the subscribed issues. But it still sucks nonetheless that the publisher wants to make more money rather moreso than keep their active subscribers happy and content. I know I won't be happy if this had happened to me.

Subscribers will be getting Detective Comics # 28 which will feature John Layman and Aaron Lopresti with a Batman/ Catwoman cover by Jason Fabok.

DC Collectibles BATMAN & CATWOMAN KISS STATUE Preview

Sculpted by TIM BRUCKNER

The Dark Knight and the Feline Fatale steal a kiss in this intricately sculpted statue ripped from the pages of the best-selling BATMAN: HUSH graphic novel, illustrated by superstar artist Jim Lee. Limited Edition of 2500

Measures Approximately 11″ Tall / $249.95 US • On Sale January 2014 * Allocations May Occur

Again it's nice to have DC revisit some of their old stuff. With the whole New 52 vibe going off, it's a whiff of nostalgia. Plus it's an iconic moment from HUSH (which has polarized fan opinion).

Justice League of America # 5 Spoiler Review

Justice League of America # 5 review by Geoff Johns and Brett Booth. This review was done in partnership with Comicx Hub and Castle Geek

In this issue, Catwoman's not so dead after all, Martian Manhunter confronts the mysterious big boss of the "Secret Society". Steve Trevor and the rest of the JLA including Green Arrow and Star Girl team up to take down the Shaggy Man. Green Lantern Simon Baz also joins the team. We also find out that A.R.G.U.S. agent Chronos is the power source for the Society's teleporting mansion.

On the Geoff Johns: It took five issues for the slam bang action to really kick into full gear. I should be mildly annoyed by such a long time but I'm going to let it slip thanks to the satisfying fights all packed in this issue. The tease is also killing us. Johns had the good idea of answering some questions but leaving readers with more. Like who is that pale man calling the shots? Who is the man still in the shadows? Where did the the Society teleport to? Still great exposition.

On the JLA fights: I just loved all the fights here in this issue. the first round between Hawkman and the Shaggy Man was very painful to watch though. But the moment back-up arrived, things just went swell.

On the apparent death of Catwoman: It sucked and it's also a very predictable plot point (which was also very neatly discussed briefly in the Matt Kindt written backup story featuring Martian Manhunter). It also sucked that none of the conspiracy theories that were released and revealed were true. Too bad.

And yes, it was the Martian Manhunter...

On the art: I do not mean this as an offense but I would really wait each month for the release of Justice League of America with Brett Booth on art duties as opposed to seeing David Finch's work. Finch's work is fine and all but it really doesn't suit the story and the energy of a title such as this. In short, I'm officially a fan of Booth's work here in JLA. Want to see more.

Finally, I know we've already seen Doctor Light in the teasers for Trinity War but this is the first time he's really going to show how he plays ball with A.R.G.U.S...

Verdict: 8/10

Kotobukiya's DC Comics + ARTFX New 52 Catwoman Coming Up

While the Kotobukiya New 52 statues were pretty cool to look at I wasn't really in to getting them. Sure their Green Lantern, The Flash and the rest of the New 52 Justice League were sleek and shiny but I passed. Their latest product however, completely changed my mind, it's the New 52 Catwoman folks.

A Kotobukiya Japanese import! Kotobukiya’s line of DC Comics ARTFX+ Statues continues, capturing the look and costumes of DC Comics Super Heroes and villains. Following up on the Justice League comes one of Batman's most popular antagonists (and sometimes partner), Catwoman!

Stealing the limelight in her skin-tight leather jumpsuit and carrying her trademark whip and claws, Catwoman stands in a relaxed pose, yet is light on her feet, ready to either fight or flee as the situation requires. Selina Kyle's first appearance in the ARTFX+ lineup captures her classic look perfectly. The details on Catwoman are exceptional from the intricate folds and seams on her costume to the small touches like the zipper, boot buckles, whip, and claws. Kotobukiya’s unique take on Catwoman features a reflective sheen to her black cat-suit, with her fully painted features visible through her goggles.

Jessica Nigri as Catwoman

Catwoman rocked in any kind of medium so it's only a matter of time before famous cosplayers tried to cosplay her. Here's the voluptuous Jessica Nigri rolling around in her best interpretation of Catwoman from the hit Rocksteady game.

Can you say feisty?

Clay Rodery and his Cool Looking Batman Project

Here's a cool animated project that's currently in the works from artist Clay Rodery featuring the characters from the Batman movie, The Dark Knight Rises

There's no other details or whether or not this is going to be a full-fledged fan-made animated feature but based on these gifs, it looks exciting.

Check out more these after the cut...

I wonder what's Batman doing inside a catacomb? Then there's also Catwoman once again riding on the Batpod

Another interesting point here is the appearance of Jim Gordon plus The Joker who wears something really memorable.

Then there's also other rogues like the Scarecrow from Batman Begins and Bane from TDKR

And finally, the girls will swoon over the special appearance of Joseph Gordon Levitt's John 'Robin' Blake.

If you want to see more of this and other amazing stuff, you might want to visit Rodery's blog/ website HERE

The Somewhat Bad Ass Play Arts Kai TDK Joker

Here's a look at the upcoming Play Arts Kai figure of The Joker from "The Dark Knight"...

The figure is based on Heath Ledger's version of the Clown Prince of Crime (which was played to perfection IMHO).

Some Thoughts on the New Justice League of America

I was checking out the only existing image of the upcoming DCnU book "Justice League of America" set for 2013 and I thought of several things about this interesting set of characters led by Team 7 member Steve Trevor.
